On cross, however, Alcala popped onto the screen a photo in which he had a full shoulder-length Afro – a photo he tried to establish was taken about the time of Parenteau's death.

If we are to believe Alcala then the shoulder length afro is from around June 14, 1979 (the time of Parenteau's death).

Alcala was arrested in Concord, NY on Aug 12, 1971 and incarcerated until August 3, 1974.

This is, in my opinion, very clearly a first communion picture. So, we can assess that the child is Catholic and approximately 7 or 8 in the photo as First Holy Communion, at least where I grew up, was typically administered in the 2nd grade, usually in May.

I see what someone was saying about a flower girl, but the bracelet and the veil in question (which looks like the kind distributed to First Communicants when all the veils were to be the same) and the expression on her face lead me to believe it is her First Holy Communion.
