ST. PETERSBURG - Florida's first sextuplets were born Saturday night in Bayfront Medical Center.
Karoline Byler, 29, of Wesley Chapel, gave birth to five boys and one girl between 9 and 9:03 p.m.
'We saw them all and it's quite an experience,' said grandfather Jack Kiewra of The Villages. 'I'm very pleased everything went well. We have six new healthy grandbabies and my daughter is fine.'
No names were released, but the couple had selected MacKenzie Margaret and Brady Christopher as two names.
Karen Raimer of Bayfront Medical Center was the delivering physician of the 14th set of sextuplets born in the United States, and the first in Florida.
The Byler Six were transported next door to All Children's Hospital shortly after their birth.
Ben Byler, 30, told The Tampa Tribune a week before the birth of his brood that he was hoping for Labor Day deliveries, and they did come on Labor Day weekend.
Ben Byler said recently that he hoped they'd reach 30 weeks in the pregnancy to assure full development of vital organs, and the babies were carried 29 weeks and four days.
The Bylers have one other child, daughter Zoe, 4.
