I can't even imagine the trauma that this could cause the little ones that go through this. I pray for the families who have to go through this tragedy at this time of year, or any time really. I'm just sick!

The school is K-4th. I worked a mile down the road from it. Daughter works in Sandy Hook. Her co-worker ran out work because her daughter attends that school. Her daughter is safe.

CNN is reporting this morning during the announcements is when the shooting started - updated to say 9:40 a.m.

Maybe the door was not locked yet. Announcements did just start. The front doors at my kids school is unlocked until the buses are done dropping off.

who knows, maybe they thought he was a military dad coming to see his child or something. I'm just guessing. I can't get my head around this, I will never understand this.

My niece is in elementary school (only 7-years-old) and I can not even begin to understand how anyone can shoot and kill such innocent children. Like someone said, they are just BABIES! Going to school! Excited about winter break! Visits to Santa Claus. Baking cookies. Playing in the snow.

My God! And more than ONE person is responsible for this! How can you find two like-minded-people that would go into an elementary school and fire over 100 rounds into a school full of BABIES??? Possibly even a THIRD if reports are true that they are looking for a third vehicle?? WHY??

Oh boy. I wonder if the earlier report I heard on WBBM radio (Chicago) not long ago that the shooter was a kindergartener's father was accurate. That's what they were reporting regarding the deceased shooter. Though, I jumped in several pages into the thread, so maybe that has been clarified?

NECN- one little girl reported that the announcement was coming over the intercom and there was screaming, shots then the announcer went quiet. My heart is breaking.
