You could be 100% right and I am happy that your school district has all these measures in place. I would venture to guess that you have had no school shootings since those extra measures have been taken? An Aunt, like myself, should have to show a pass (like I have) in order to gain access to the school. PTA members should be considered employee's and given an access card, IMO, if they need to be coming and going so much.

We don't know if this shooter was a student or someone else. They keep saying gunman and that makes me assume that this person was not someone who was a student of elementary age. Plus the fact that they are looking for a car? Sounds like someone older. Only time will tell if he had a legit way of entering the school?

BBM - They said it was an adult male shooter.

Isn't that a sick thought! I would never trust teachers to be armed.:furious:

It's not my intention to derail the thread. I won't say anything further, and I regret even posting my opinion on it.

I am at work and just saw this on my computer so came right to WS for the latest.

I really am at a loss for words right now. Will this ever end?

A lot of mass shooters legally purchase their guns.

I dont want to take this off topic out of respect for the wounded and killed.

But that is a tiny tiny minority compared to the 100 million+ legal gunowners who never hurt anyone.

The mall shooter this week stoled his gun.

Plenty of time to discuss gun control on other side of this thread, after the events of this immediate situation are thoroughly explicated and thus can be better-understood.

This is just heartwrenching.

Im sitting here crying for these young little children and their families.

Me too....

(I taught school for many years and we conducted drills for these types of situations but I cannot imagine the reality of it. The video of those teachers and little students fleeing the scene haunts me.)

I was planning to make a quick trip to the mall and run a couple of errands, but now I feel so sad about this school shooting that I'll stay home, watch breaking news, and keep the victims and their families in my prayers. :(

On cnn, witness talking about how did they get in, it is a lock school...

CBS news says the shooter was a student's father.

I don't think anyone in this conversation is the least bit surprised at that.

Going out on a limb here, I think we will find a disgruntled parent was involved.

ETA I see a poster just posted the shooter was a parent according to CBS, I was just basing my thought because the VP & Principal are alleged to have been shot.

Mike Brooks -- There was an administrators' meeting going on at the time of the shooting. Medical examiner in route to the school. Flatbed tow truck ordered to school. LE in route to another scene.

(No info on what is at "other scene." MB said maybe they identified shooter by vehicle and are going to his house or something like that.)

I was going Christmas shopping and to lunch with DH. Still doing lunch because I already made plans to meet him but gosh darn I am not in the mood to shop now :furious:

I have a kindergartner that I'm feeling sick to my stomach in worry for now even though she's a 1000 miles from CT.

school psychologist and principal deceased, per cnn and one child. Also another shot, who I think is the Vice principal.

I had a feeling when the Mayor was talking on Fox they already knew who he is and why he may have done this.

Of course the motive will be as senseless as the crime.

I wonder if one of the ones he killed is his child. If so they need to check the home of the mother/wife....she may have been killed also.
