I wonder if his isolation was self-imposed or if maybe NL thought it was in his best interest as he got older? I wonder why he didn't continue his college courses especially considering there are so many online options.

I do not how to say this kindly. I know a person from Newtown through a friend.

I cannot stomach the thought that people think a whole town is conspiring to cover up and pretend about this massacre.

As far as the reception this Canadian got, I am surprised that he did not get escorted out of town. I can only imagine how many nuts have come to the town and how many crazy things and rumors they have had to put up with.

Grieving Newtown father jeered by pro-gun activists

A warning for gun advocates in the U.S.: the best way to show you are not a gang of bullies is not by heckling the grieving father of a dead six-year-old boy.

Neil Heslin's six-year-old son Jesse Lewis was one of the victims of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Considering his son was gunned down by a man with a Bushmaster semi-automatic assault rifle, he had some strong feelings on the topic.

Heslin asked lawmakers to improve mental health regulations and ban assault weapons.

Background checks for gun purchases up since Newtown massacre: FBI data

(Reuters) - Background checks for firearms purchases spiked after the December 14 mass shooting at a school in Newtown, Connecticut, new data from the FBI showed on Monday.

According to data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation's National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), nine of the top 10 days for firearms checks from November 30, 1998, to January 27, 2013, including December 14, 2012, occurred since Adam Lanza killed 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School and then shot and killed himself.

According to the FBI data, the leading six days for background checks before the sale of firearms occurred after December 14, 2012. The top five weeks for background checks were the week of the massacre and afterward.

Since November 30, 1998, the top day for background checks before gun sales was December 21, 2012, a week after the massacre. Checks that day numbered 177,170.

The top week since November 30, 1998, was December 17 to December 23, 2012, when 953,613 background checks were requested.

Seeking to disarm the next Adam Lanza before it's too late, a key Republican lawmaker and upholder of the Second Amendment wants the state of Connecticut to require gun owners to lock up their weapons if they live with someone who is mentally unstable.

State Sen. L. Scott Frantz, R-36, a gun owner himself who represents all of Greenwich and parts of Stamford and New Canaan, recently introduced a bill that would tighten the law applying to safekeeping of firearms.

The measure, proposed Bill No. 604, stipulates that all firearms be stored securely in a locked box or safe if the owner knows that another person living in their home presents a danger to him or herself or others.

Yet at the same time I don't think the investigators have released any info on whether NL had locked up her weapons. There was a comment made by a "friend" that said NL kept her guns in a closet but I thought there were also reports from another "friend" of a gun safe.

For all we know NL could have kept her guns under lock and key. Someone had speculated in an earlier thread that this could be why AL waited for her to return from her 3 day trip - because she might have taken the keys with her - and then he got the keys while she slept, got the guns, shot NL four times in the face while she slept, and then waited God only knows how long between then and heading to the school.

I am glad that someone is addressing the issue of requiring gun owners to lock up their guns but in all honestly how would it ever be monitored? Unfortunately I think the only way someone would be punished for NOT locking up their gun would be after someone else (mentally ill or not) had already committed some sort of crime with it.

Frantz is grandstanding. He has a voting record of Nay on just about every single piece of legislation that was passed in Connecticut last year. He doesn't care about health, much less mental health. Grandstanding, imo, with a kneejerk bill that is not thoroughly thought out and could never possibly be upheld. Passive / Aggressive Grandstanding. Where was he last year at this time on the issue, I wonder?

I hope she was asleep, but I could imagine the brat probably wanted to express his full rage meltdown and let his mom see it for herself

Prosecutor Determining if Lanza Mental Health Documents Can Be Released

Connecticut lawmakers are reviewing mental health care following the Newtown school shooting, even though they and the public have little insight into what might have been ailing the 20-year-old gunman.

A prosecutor said he cannot release any information about Adam Lanza's mental health because of state conduct rules for attorneys.

His office is reviewing whether details of Lanza's mental state can be released to the public after the police report is completed, possibly in June.

Court asked to unseal Lanza warrants

DANBURY -- An attorney representing The News-Times is asking court officials to reconsider their decision to shield from public view the search warrant affidavits for the cars and home of Sandy Hook massacre gunman Adam Lanza and his mother.

While saying there are unlikely to be any arrests in the case, State's Attorney Stephen Sedensky argued last month that the documents should remain sealed for the next three months to allow detectives to work on the investigation, "unencumbered by distractions."

Attorney Stephen Yuhan said in a letter sent to Judge John Blawie that the prosecutor gave no information about how the investigation would be compromised if the documents were released to the public.

"We feel strongly that it is in the public's interest to know what's in these documents," said Barbara T. Roessner, executive editor of Hearst Connecticut Media Group, of which The News-Times is a member.

That is what I have wondered too. The more I think about this, I think Adam Lanza did not like being isolated. I wonder if Adam Lanza killed Nancy Lanza because he saw her as being too much a busybody for him. The way he killed her mother is someone with deep anger towards her.

I wonder if Adam Lanza was inspired by Columbine and Virginia Tech Massacre. He would of been 7 when Columbine and 15 when Virginia Tech happened. I know Seung-Hui Cho mentioned Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold in his manifesto.

HOOD -- I seriously think Nancy tried to get AL off his butt to get moving forward to do something in his life, since her rumored MS health issues may be the motivation from her

But AL rebelled, he liked his comfort zone of doing whatever pleased him

Lanza withdrew from life. He was highly functioning to fix/repair and analyze all kind sof hi tech equipment

Lanza knew about guns, even high powered guns and how to shoot them

Lanza could pass college courses at 16 years old

Lanza knew how to drive a car

Lanza had the Free Will to Choose his options, but was too lazy to connect with th erest of society

It was his choice not to interact, he was a quitter and didnt try hard enough

I do believe his mother wanted to sell the house and move somewhere. And he was going to be put into some special college. I think he resented that and was very angry at his mother for doing that to him. So that would explain why he killed the mother. But why kill the children and the teachers? He hasn't been to that school in a decade. Did his mother ever volunteer there, or was that false information?

I just made sure to emphasize "friends" because there was no official source regarding NL's guns. :wink:

But then again let's not forget the [link removed] who pretended to be the uncle of one of the children. :furious:
