:waitasec: CNN (Susan C.) reporting that Nancy Lanza was found dead in her home. So, who was in the classroom with the children? A substitute?

She's not listed as a teacher at that school.

I think this is just one more of many complete inaccuracies in this story.

Such a sad day in history. Who would of thought our babies of the world would be such a target. :(
RIP little ones. My thoughts and prayers go out to all families and friends.

My kids are home from school now, so I've turned off the tv so they won't hear any of this. My mind just refuses to comprehend what happened today. His poor mother.. I can't imagine the horror she felt when she realized what was going on.

WHY would he kill all of those children? How could he look at them and do this?

Good for you. I think it is important not to talk about the grisly details and have the news blaring all night etc if you have little children in the house. They are too young to process it right now. We think they can't hear us talking but they can.

IMO, children that young should never be interviewed without their parents' permission, especially in circumstances like this.

One news (forgot which one) said the parents were right there with them.

I'm wondering why is it so hard to get a clear positive ID on all the fatalities in this case? Unless there is a suspicion of something truly diabolical - switching clothing or bringing other children to school who aren't students there in order to kill them, it seems it would take me under 2 hours to have a firm, positive ID on all 30.

Anyone who has ever gone on a field trip with a class knows a school can tell you immediately which kids didn't get on the bus that were expected - and a teacher could simply look at her class roll, parents can pick up and sign out their kids, and those who weren't picked up are the pool of names you draw from.

Why in the world is it taking so long? This must be agonizing for the parents.

I've no doubt they've got a pretty good idea which children and adults at the school are not among the living but putting names to the faces could be difficult if they were shot in the face. No doubt parents and teachers, other people who know them would still be able to name most of them quickly on the basis of the clothing, hairstyle etc. but it would be traumatic to expect them to do it.

A kindergarten teacher owned a a semi-automatic, a 223 Bushmaster, and a Glock? Doubtful. Those are some man's gun collection. I could believe that she owned the Sig Sauer. (Yes, I realize some females collect guns too. I lived in Okla. for many years.)
I know, I've been calling BS to almost everything I've been hearing in the last 20 minutes.

Honestly----how much of a shell does a person have to be to shoot little children?

Did the shooter take a developmentally disabled brother along?

It appears that the shooter WAS the developmentally disabled brother.

The oldest brother is alive and being questioned in NJ... the other brother is dead at the school.

The brother (R) alive says that his younger brother (A) was Autistic or had Asperger's.

Her name is not Lanza. She had remarried recently.

Maybe that's Adam's stepmom.

Police looking for Adam's GF and another friend, who both are missing in New Jersey.

Last spring, my community college was evacuated because of a alleged threat of an individual on campus with firearms. We were not allowed to stay in a locked classroom. They made everyone leave and cancelled classes. While I was waiting 30+ minutes to get out of the parking lot, I couldn't help but wonder if the person had intended to do harm, here was a ton of students stuck in their vehicles in a traffic jam. As it turned out, the person was no longer on campus by the time the officials decided to evacuate, but I didn't think the protocall was the best solution even if the person was on campus. Does anyone else have the evacuate campus instead of stay in a locked classroom protocall?

Apparently the information or misinformation as it may be came from someone who was not really supposed to talk about it.

A law enforcement official -- briefed on the situation but asked not to be named because he was not authorized to speak publicly -- said that Nancy Lanza, the shooter's 52-year-old mother and kindergarten teacher at the school, was among those killed. Police say another adult male was found in a Newtown home owned by Nancy and Peter Lanza, Adam and Ryan Lanza's father.

I hereby refuse to believe anything else about this case until at least the end of the week.

CNN later clarified that Nancy Lanza was found dead at suspect's home, and that they are not sure if she also lived there.
