I don't get this either. What are they investigating? Why leave the children there all night? It seems so disrespectful to me, their little bodies just laying there. We know what happened. Why are the details of what each and every child experienced necessary? It seems like it should be an open and now, shut case. They talked of measuring trajectories and such. So what? What will that help? I don't get it.

I've heard parents of murdered victims have said that they wanted to know every detail, what their child went through. So there probably are quite a few parents who want to know exactly what happened in that classroom.

So what should the reporters do, wait for the cops to call them and tell them it's okay to report? That's called a police state.

It happens all of the time. That is why the names of the victims arent released until the next of kin are notified. That's why the names of sexual assault victims arent identified in the media.

The media has no right. Look at the level of misinformation they have released. What if they were wrong? What if they had the wrong man?

Are you asking me what they should do as in legally or morally?

Legally they have a right to screw up the investigation.
So, "morally," they should wait till, what, all the stars align, to inform the public what is happening in a case in which it's in the public's best interest to know? This isn't church, it's not even an ethics class, it's media reporting a case as it happens in real time.

You are not alone in your opinion. I haven't stopped thinking of the children laying there just as they were found while their parents waited and waited. I couldn't have been held back either. I'd want to cradle my child, grandchild... brush their hair from their faces, kiss their cheek, rock them. I know that this is probably not possible to do in the state they are in and the parents are being protected from this. Still, I couldn't have been held back without arrest. My heart aches so for the victims and their families.

I feel this way, too. I thought that during the Columbine investigation as well. I would do anything to get to my child and lay next to them. It just feels like the most basic right of humanity to be allowed touch your own child's skin in those moments. I realize there are other considerations, but my heart would not care.

Because of an acute lack of services for those with ASD over the age of 18, many graduating individuals with ASD are left without:
-social interaction required for practicing communication skills they have learned,
-education,
-employment, and
-sense of self worth.
They don't experience a "progression" in their brain dysfunction. This is an situation that could be remedied with knowledge and public efforts.

I just wanted to share some personal knowledge of this. My brother has Asperger's, OCD, anxiety and depression. He is 32 he is my younger brother. He is quite slight of stature, but he can be and has been very violent. He has destroyed his apartment on several occassions. He is a very lonely individual. When he was younger there was not alot known about this disorder (especially where we lived) and he didn't get many of the early interventions that are now available. We also spent many years estranged, not because I wanted to, but because I did not understand him or how to talk to him. We have come a long way from that, but he still has angry and violent outbursts. They are usually very impulsive and short-lived.

I say this with a very heavy heart, as I am sure that most of these individuals, particularily those who have family on this board are NOT this way. BUT, it is possible. One thing about my brother is that he has told me numerous times how jealous he is of me. He wishes he had friends and a spouse, and children like I do. So, I am thinking this has all the hallmarks of a jealous rage/revenge type fantasy. With my brother, he also has a savant quality where he can latch onto one or two things and be very knowledgeable about the subject. I wonder if the guns/shooting were some sort of hobby his mother and him enjoyed together and it became a sort of obsession (OCD) whereby he plotted this out of many months, possibly fantasizing about it, and there must have been a precipitating event that set his fantasy/plan into action.

Please understand this is all my own opinion, based on my life experiences and in NO WAY am I lumping all individuals with these issues into this scenario.

Neither do I.

Would you want to be blindsided in your driveway with the news that your son killed a bunch of kids and is dead?

Nobody brought up church. All people need morals. Not just church goers.

Well they were! and people posted the wrong facebook and pictures here afterwards for hours.

Jumping off your quote Kimberlyd125- they are also investigating to learn all they can and apply that knowledge towards preventing future tragedies.

Because they didn't know if anyone else was involved.

It's still a criminal investigation even though the killer is dead.

Lanza shot his mother, Nancy Lanza, drove to the school in her car with at least three guns, including a high-powered rifle that he apparently left in the back of the vehicle, and shot up two classrooms around 9:30 a.m. Friday, law enforcement officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/12/15/at-least-26-dead-in-shooting-at-connecticut-school/

A custodian ran through the halls, warning of a gunman on the loose, and someone switched on the intercom, alerting people in the building to the attack -- and perhaps saving many lives -- by letting them hear the hysteria going on in the school office, a teacher said

An FBI source tells Fox News that Ryan Lanza and the father, Peter Lanza, have both been cleared and are not longer being questioned.

A source close to the investigation said the shooter's father, who lives in Stamford, Conn., is meeting with FBI agents.

You are right.
If my daughter would have been a victim, I would want to know how much she saw before dying. How many of her friends she saw being shot. And I would wish she would have been the first to have to go, so that at least she didnt have to endure the fear and shock.
I dont know why. Even though it wouldnt bring her back, I would want to know just to imagine how she felt during her last moments.

On the other hand, I would also want to go into the school immediately to hold her.

So sad to write this.

There are many things I would not want to occur but would expect to occur were I in a similar circumstance.

The thing with morals is, you expect people to have your morals.

The biggest problem in our world today is lack of morals IMO.

It's obvious to me this "man" had none.

And I firmly believe games such as mortal combat fuel the fire of the immoral.

CSP has a job to do. It is their job to piece this together-my heart breaks for them. They dont want this job either.

Someone has to bear witness to this horror, and they will be the ones because that is what we hired them to do. JMVHO and peace to all of you.

Adam Lanza looks anorexic to me in the photo.

Which tells me he wasn't taking any of the newer antipsychotic medications. These have the very common side of effect of significant weight gain.

I dont understand why the media can get to people like Dad faster than PD and why they should even try. They put the man at risk, they put the investigation at risk...all for the price of a scoop.

ITA...To the media..Leave the father alone and esp the grandmother. My heart breaks for her when she got that phone call from the media yesterday. Poor thing.

There was no deliberate misinformation. You seem to think that truth is cut, weighed, packaged, and available to the discerning reporter and his or her public at cost.
