I work with young children, some only a year younger than these children whose lives were lost. This just broke my heart. Rest in peace sweet children.

The Patriot Guard is already alerting riders from all over to get to Newtown. They will make sure these families are shielded from any disrespect.
DH and I are unable to participate, and wish we were alot closer.

I can go. Hook me up. :rocker:

Isn't he the #27? Why are you assuming there was no candle for the mother?:banghead:

Counting AL there are 28 dead. That means to me he killed 27 people which makes 27 victims not 26. In every media report that I've seen be it candles or the wreaths only 26 have been left. He killed 27 people in the community, I just don't understand why only 26 of the victims are being paid respect.

 hello to all our guests!

When a tragedy of this magnitude happens, people from all walks of life are drawn together. To absorb, to discuss, to try to make some kind of sense of the senseless.

Please consider joining Websleuths and joining the conversation. We would love to have you.

This is probably nuts, but would anything really negative in one's school record keep one from getting a gun permit? May be that's why he went to the school (if there was indeed an altercation the day before). They wouldn't help him so he killed his mother to get the gun and went back to the school to settle the score.

An interview with Aunt said she was sometimes a teachers aid there also.

Why would Superintendent and State Police say there is and was no connection between mother and school?

Is there a link somewhere that I can listen to the latest press conference. It seems I must have just missed it. Thanks!

No, they don't check school records.

And while some question, who could have predicted this would happen, another headline, quietly seeps into today's consciousness...
"Sammie Eaglebear Chavez, 18, was arrested at his home in Bartlesville, Okla., on Friday, the same day that a gunman killed 20 children and six adults at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn... Police alleged in an affidavit that Chavez tried to recruit other Bartlesville High School students to help him lure classmates into the school auditorium, where he planned to chain the doors shut and start shooting them, the newspaper said.

Very Brave indeed.

Without giving up any specific details............these women FOUGHT for those children with their bodies, ultimately giving up their lives. They lived the Biblical passage of laying down one's life for another.

Maybe she worked there years ago? Her son would be out of elementary school for 10 years already.

In every list I make there will be 27 victims.
At this point there is no reason to remove his mother from the list of victims.

Now do we know that the custodian who ran around alerting people survived?
Didn't we confirm that was a male custodian and since no male adults died, he survived it?

I also hope they can figure out who turned on the intercom. So that they can be appropriately recognized... whether they survived or not.

I am also lost, gone all day with errands etc. NO Christmas shopping, not this year.

It is not only the talk of New England but everywhere of course. I am still getting such conflicting stories and trying to read back on here.

Is the school still a crime scene or have they completed their investigation? I can not help thinking about all these poor people who are so suffering.

I expect the community is conflicted about giving the same recognition to AL's mother as to the other victims. Although she is also a victim, she is not in the same group as the school victims. JMO

know what you mean, HMom. But check it, this happened on the same Friday. The article suggests that the student had been researching how pipe bombs, etc. Again, goes to strategy and planning.
