New Hampshire funeral home to claim body of Nancy Lanza, medical examiner says

Published: Tuesday, December 18, 2012

By Joe Amarante, Register Staff, [email protected]

Among the flood of reports on the Newtown school slayings has been one saying that the bodies of shooter Adam Lanza and his mother Nancy remain unclaimed, raising new questions about the Lanzas’ extended family and state procedure.

But arrangements for burial are in the works, at least for the mother, Chief State Medical Examiner H. Wayne Carver confirmed Tuesday.

“There is a funeral home, out of state and whose name is as yet unknown to me, who wants to claim the body discreetly,” Carver said. That state is apparently New Hampshire, where the former Nancy Jean Champion was raised in Kingston, just north of the Massachusetts line.

“The police in New Hampshire are already trying to control an ever-expanding cohort from the fourth estate,” Carver wrote in an email.

It was not known if Adam’s body was still unclaimed Tuesday night. Carver said the press in the Granite State is “in full boil” about the case, too.

East Haven police say rumors of 'kill list' not credible

Published: Tuesday, December 18, 2012

By Jennifer Swift, Register Staff, [email protected]

EAST HAVEN — Police say a student or group of students circulated rumors via social media that a special needs student created a “kill list” and was going to bring a weapon to school on Friday.

But police say there is no threat, and they do not believe such a list exists.

The youth find it heartbreaking but don't get why it is a bigger deal than all the kids starving to death every single day... They kind of have a point I guess.

Premeditated murder is one human being's choice that 20 children will die in screaming fear - if the youth equate this to malnourishment on the scale of what should be shocking to us, then they're more than just desensitized. I've lived in a country where the population often lost children to malnourishment or malaria - yet still when a brutal civil war came through killing children in a bloodbath, the adults were shocked and horrified. THEY know the difference between the two types of deaths.

I had to "unjoin" a facebook page that was mocking everyone's reactions to this horror and the comments people were leaving were just sick sick sick. I can't stand to know there is evil like the killer AL walking around, and I also can't stand to know there is the associated evil of the people who take time and pleasure writing about how little they care.

One thing that should be learned from this tragedy is that there are no community mental health supports for mentally ill individuals and their families. NL was living in this nightmare alone and unfortunately she used poor judgement. Funding for mental health has gone downhill since the 80's.

I heard that NL had no relation with the school. Then today I heard she was friends with the principle and did volunteer there. So ???

I read that Peter L's new wife was a librarian but no mention of where she worked. Someone linked an article earlier that AL ended the relationship with his father after PL remarried. Just speculating whether the new wife worked at a school.

No The New wife did not work in the school. I read that father and step mother live in Stamford ( about an hour away) and that she was a librarian at Uconn. ( not sure which Uconn location ) They have not released the exact connection to the school yet.

investigators say they may have come across a possible motive for the gunman in the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting. This comes as grieving families concentrate on the victims and four more funerals will be held today.

The son of a pastor at an area church where many of the victims' families worship believes the gunman's murderous rampage boils down to fear and envy. A lifelong resident of this grieving community, familiar with 20-year-old gunman Adam Lanza's family, tells FOXNews.com that Nancy Lanza was planning to have her son committed to a psychiatric facility.

"He thought she just wanted to send him away. From what I understand, he was really, really angry," said Joshua Flashman.

A senior law enforcement official involved in the investigation confirms the theory is being considered.

Firstly Fox reported the same...

Then the pastor said the opposite ( look here: Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community - View Single Post - Connecticut school district on lockdown after shooting report at a Newtown elemen #6 )

And now Fox is saying the same again, lol

At least now they are mentioning that investigators are considering this theory... Personally, i also think that this could be the motive .. or part of it .. who knows, exactly anyhow, what was going on in the head of that "genius"

Sorry if this is a repeat:

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/12/1...by-massacre-gunman-and-mother-say-adam-lanza/

"Another stylist, Jessica Phillips, echoed their descriptions of the Lanzas and added that Nancy Lanza would give her son directions about what to do and where to go.

Adam would move only "when his mother told him to," Skuba said.

"I would say, 'Adam, come on.' He wouldn't move," Skuba said. "And his mother would have to say, 'Adam, come on, he's ready.' It was like I was invisible." He said Adam also wouldn't move from his chair after his hair was cut until his mother told him to.

If a stylist would ask Adam a question, Skuba said, his mother would answer."

MOO - Adam's condition was deteriorating and so was his mother's.

He was her world, and her - his.

Talk of college, being independent - even if she moved "close by" was extremely upsetting to him.

Her MS was probably getting worse and seeing her get sicker and all of the talk of becoming "independent", father and brother had been cut out of his life, "Who will take care of me?"...

I wonder when/if Nancy told AL about her diagnosis. Most reports I have seen say that she wasn't getting worse, but she was likely trying to plan for the future if and when she did get worse.

I also wonder if college wasn't just a nice code word for "group home" or "institution". Maybe AL found web searches or email exchanges that told him he wasn't going to college, he was going to a facility and that is why he smashed the computer. (Mom doesn't love me anymore, she is going to send me away.)

On that line of thinking, if she really did volunteer at the school, no one seems to really be sure, then look at all the little kids that to AL's mind, she must have seemed to still love more. (She isn't sending them away. She still wants to be around them.)

I don't know. Just thinking out loud.
