To make the schools more safe for the next time (which there will be one) they should put a door in every wall that enters into the classroom beside it.. This way the main door to the classroom can be locked and the kids can travel through the connecting doors out to safety.. This would be cheap to do.....it can be done quickly also...

Curious as to whether his brain showed any pathology at autopsy.

I am thinking that his body "habitus"? set off alarms?
Is that the right word?

Did he live at home while taking these college courses? Did he commute by mom driving him or live on campus?

He attended college at 16.
Drove at 18.

? mom drove him???

Falcons. Wow. Just spinning off that, it's the image Yeats uses to signify loss of control
when he begins his poem "The Second Coming"
yes. and the poem ends w/:

And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

After reading all of the posts on this forum for the past several days, yes I do think that. I do not think he had Aspergers at all. :twocents:

A primary symptom in the diagnosis of schizophrenics is hallucinations (auditory or visual). It does not look like Adam Lanza had either, according to news reports and neither his dad nor his brother mentioned him having hallucinations. I would hold off on calling him a schizophrenic until we are given more medical info from the ME and other sources.

That's a very creative solution!

That's what set us all off i think, that picture from his drivers license.....which is two years old if the reports surrounding that are correct, so he may have looked a he!! of a lot worse!

Where do they plan to keep his body until spring? that is nuts!
Maybe they are going to let researchers look at his brain? Maybe they just want to give it more time for things to cool off before they bury him?

Frankly, if he were my relative, if I wanted to take care of it quickly I would have cremated him and thrown his ashes in before I put NL's casket in the grave. No marker, no ceremony, just put him in a grave where there will be no long term way to locate him.

Since I believe in research, I would allow neurologists and any other researchers who were interested to see if there are any genetic or biological clues to why he did this horrible thing.

And, I would like to hear about the child that played dead.

That makes two of us. And the person in the woods. And which gun was in the trunk. And so much more. The conspiracy theories are starting to fly and I am sitting here just shaking my head and wondering :(

If he were my relative, I would donate his body to science....and figure out what went wrong!!!!

Jesse Lewis's dad was just on CNN. He doesn't have much family, was mostly just him and Jesse. I feel so badly for him and I am so worried for him once the media leaves and everything dies down and he is left with his thoughts.

Hollow points compress and then turn into an umbrella. They tend to exit the brain unlike a small caliber bullet which can bounce around off the inside of the skull.

Think of brain in a blender. (There will only be mush for the pathologists to exam.)

Somewhat random post in the midst of school discussion.

Has anyone heard the song by Terry Fator called "Horses In Heaven"?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=_3krCUDPNJI&NR=1

Last Friday I know of a special needs Golden Retriever with hydrocephalus that passed away early in the day and a 12 year old horse of an acquaintance died suddenly and unexpectedly Friday as well. I think a little cowgirl from Newtown found out there are horses in heaven and a very, very special Golden was there to greet 20 children and the adults from their school.

My friend's kids school had their windows covered this week too. School is out but they had 'winter camp' there for daycare for working parents. She felt kind of the same way I did though---ARE WE GIVING COVER TO PEDOPHILES NOW?

I have always liked the open, visible windows in classrooms.

If it improves safety, so be it! Whatever it takes!

Egads! I don't know that I'm okay with that tradeoff. Not the being shot over the being raped thing, but the fact that living in a war zone might make it easier for a pedophile to get at my child. :(

Please tell me again why gun control isn't a better option than our children having the choice between these two fates? It makes me sick.

Hopefully after this tragedy, more students will do what the kids did at this Maryland school. These students did this last week and the person was taken care of yesterday. They just may have averted another school tragedy.

Or put a solid steel door on the exterior wall in the classrooms that cannot be entered upon unless someone from inside the classroom opens it. My oldest daughter is special needs and her classrooms have these doors to make it more convenient for the buses to have access to the students that are in wheelchairs. If the school is more than one story have stairs just like a fire exit.
One would not know if there are any shooters outside but like I told my husband I would rather be a moving target and have the chance to run to safety than be confined in a small space and be a sitting duck.
