Well .. gotto take it all with a grain of salt ..... all the Media.

It is possible to think critically and evaluate sources.

That was already debunked by LE. so much for the Enquirer. I love how the DOJ will give the Enquirer info but not traditional media.
maybe cuz NE pays them ... good $$$, where other media do not? :)

... i don't know one way or another, of course.. - but heard that they do pay their "informers" :)

lol. We are now using National Inquirer as a MSM source? Of course, I guess they can't do much worse than some of the more "legitimate" media outlets have done with reporting factually on this case. :eyeroll:

:) sometimes NE comes out with the story before the "legitimate" papers do
and sometimes they are more accurate.
They do have a "Stigma" you know. :)

If my brother sees a NE around the house he immediately sais ---
PLEASE hide this crap before the company comes OK? :floorlaugh:

True...
but as i said, everything should be taken with a grain of salt ... personally, however, i don't mind to check out any media, even NE... especially when they publish something "EXCLUSIVE", lol

Other than that .. as others said ... MSM (including CNN) didn't do much better in this case... to-date anyhow.

yeah, occasionally they do trip over a heck of a scoop. But the story being linked here about AL is absolute carp IMO. They claim he was hearing voices telling him to go kill those children before they could grow up to be like him or some such nonsense And that is simply not possible for them to know.

This kid interacted with next to no one as far as we know so I highly doubt the NE managed to establish he was schizophrenic and hearing voices urging him to kill when LE is still trying to establish the hows and the whys of his awful crime.

Until the father or brother speak, i think this is a dead end! Why would PL give NL more than 1/2 his gross salary as alimony? Something is very strange here!
To expect the father and brother to be truthtellers whose tales will be gospel is rather to expect human beings to be perfect.

Could it be when AL stayed in the windowless basement that his father distanced himself from the situation because he was unable to have any say in his "upbringing", since the court gave NL the final say. I might have to walk away from the situation myself and want nothing to do with it. PL may not have wanted to be responsible for the final outcome! I can't blame him.

And as if LE, themselves, always give us true info? :)

... either that ... or occasionally they can't make "head or tail" of things on their own

PLUS .. They don't have to tell us anything, to start with, actually ... especially if / when investigating the case...

---------

In any case .. I am quite skeptical person .. and take anything i hear with a grain of salt :D

I agree with everything written here except that Asperger's "could've easily morphed" into schizophrenia. Asperger's is a developmental disorder whereas schizophrenia is a psychiatric disorder. They have different etiology and causes. I don't think one easily morphs into the other. Would be interesting to get statistics on what the frequency of Aspergers being linked to schizophrenia is.

Abstract
The present study identifies the prevalence and types of comorbid psychiatric disorders associated with Asperger syndrome (AS)/high-functioning autism (HFA) in a combined community- and clinic-based sample of fifty 9- to 16-year-old subjects using the Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia for School-Age Children, Present and Lifetime Version. The level of functioning was estimated using the Children’s Global Assessment Scale. The results support common (prevalence 74%) and often multiple comorbid psychiatric disorders in AS/HFA; behavioral disorders were shown in 44%, anxiety disorders in 42% and tic disorders in 26%. Oppositional defiant disorder, major depressive disorder and anxiety disorders as comorbid conditions indicated significantly lower levels of functioning. To target interventions, routine evaluation of psychiatric comorbidity in subjects with AS/HFA is emphasized.

this article goes into something called " comorbity" combinations overlapping of disorders that do present together and change over time. IMO The pdf is really interesting and had statistics for youth - 20's inclinations to comorbity...examples violence etc...

What reason would PL have to give NL more than 1/2 his gross salary as alimony? It wasn't like she never worked. I think that is kind of rare and there are a lot of skeletons locked up in a closet somewhere.
Perhaps it is as simple as Peter Lanza being a generous provider. A compelling question though.

Yes, the "everything should be taken with a grain of salt" thing is what I was disagreeing with.

No argument that much of media stumbled out of the gate in their initial Newtown coverage, but viewing information in the New York Times and the Washington Post as being somehow equal in value to that in the New York Post and New York Daily News, or that information contained in the Guardian and the Telegraph somehow has the same value as that contained in the Mirror or the Sun is counter-productive to understanding an issue.

In all the years I've studied Asperger's and sat in on IEP meetings and met with professionals, I've NEVER EVER heard that AS "morphs" with anything. Can a person have Asperger's and an additional condition? Yes. But "morphing" into something else is pure science fiction, IMO.

I really do not think their basement was like a dungeon, I am sure it was rather nice from looking at their home and knowing their yearly money.

It doesn't matter if the basement looked like the Taj Mahal, when you spend 90% of your time there and never interact with other people the other 10%, who would know if he was hallucinating?
