BANKS COUNTY, Ga. - Authorities are asking for the public’s help in finding a 26-year-old Banks County man whose vehicle was discovered in North Carolina. Budd is 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing about 130 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes.

Missing Georgia man believed to be found dead in Canton

A body believed to be a man who’s been missing for two-and-half-weeks was recovered Tuesday afternoon in the Newfound area off I-40 in Haywood County.

A body believed to be a man who’s been missing for two-and-half-weeks was recovered Tuesday afternoon in the Newfound area off I-40 in Haywood County.

A search for the 26-year-old man from North Georgia, including the use of K9 trackers and four wheelers, had been ongoing since his car mysteriously turned up in a church parking lot outside Canton.

The family of Conner Budd had been holding out hope he would be found alive. But on Tuesday, they learned a body was discovered in a sleeping bag in the vicinity.

A positive ID is pending an autopsy. However, Budd’s license was found in the sleeping bag, according to the father.

Investigators stated that they didn’t believe foul play was a factor in Budd’s death, and that there is no risk to the community.
