Hello! I'm new here, but have been a lurker off and on. I have a Youtube channel and much of my content is related to Urban Legends that turned out to be true. I am working on a piece about Connie Marsh and have been obsessed with the case for several years. I know it's lofty of me, but I want to solve it!

I am looking for any facts, friends, relations, photos, tips, really anything beyond the headlines. I am going to post a short rundown of the story and a picture.

🧑‍🎨 Who Connie Marsh was

  • Constance “Connie” Marsh was a CalArts (California Institute of the Arts) student and aspiring artist in the early 1970s. Santa Clarita Valley Signal
  • In April 1974, she went out alone to a remote area near Pico Canyon Road in Los Angeles County to paint natural scenery. SCVNews.com

📅 Timeline of Disappearance & Investigation

📍 April 3, 1974 — Disappearance

  • Marsh was last seen on this day. She had driven to a rugged hillside off Pico Canyon Road to paint. SCVNews.com
  • Her car was found parked, with her purse and wallet still inside, and her unfinished painting beside it, indicating she didn’t intend to disappear voluntarily. Santa Clarita Valley Signal
  • Deputies reported no obvious sign of a struggle around her vehicle — no footprints or disturbance. SCVNews.com
  • Despite searches on horseback and with dogs, law enforcement found no trace of her in the immediate area at the time. Santa Clarita Valley Signal

📍 December 15, 1974 — Remains Found

  • A local hunter, Lawrence Brown, discovered a human skull while hunting near Texas Canyon, above Vasquez Canyon Road. SCVNews.com
  • The skull was later forensically identified as Connie Marsh’s, connecting it to her disappearance. Santa Clarita Valley Signal
  • The area where her skull was found was about 10 miles away from where her car was discovered, indicating she was likely moved or transported after her disappearance. SCVNews.com

🧪 Cause & Classification

  • The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner–Coroner determined that Marsh died of blunt force trauma to the head, a strong indication of homicide. Santa Clarita Valley Signal
  • Because only a skull was found and not the rest of the body (and no arrest has ever been publicly reported), the case became and remains a cold homicide investigation. Santa Clarita Valley Signal

🧠 Investigative Status

  • No suspect has ever been officially named or charged in connection with Connie Marsh’s murder. SCVNews.com
  • As of the latest reports from local news retrospectives, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau still considers the case open but with no active leads. Santa Clarita Valley Signal
  • In the 2010s, friends and alumni revisited the case, even sharing old photos from the era with investigators in hopes of identifying a person of interest, but nothing came of it. Santa Clarita Valley Signal

🗺️ Geographic Details

  • Last known location: Rugged hills off Pico Canyon Road — where Marsh’s car, painting, purse, and wallet were found. Santa Clarita Valley Signal
  • Skull discovery location: Near Texas Canyon Road above Vasquez Canyon, a remote area reachable by unpaved roads. SCVNews.com
  • These two locations are distinct and roughly 10 miles apart, complicating the theory of where she was killed or how she got from one place to the other. Santa Clarita Valley Signal

🧩 Why It Remains a Mystery

Despite the clear indication of foul play and death by blunt force trauma:

  • No arrest or identified suspect has ever been publicly recorded. Santa Clarita Valley Signal
  • There is no confirmed confession, forensic match, or clear evidence of who might have killed her. SCVNews.com

• • The case predates modern DNA forensics and, as of the last public reporting, has not been fully reopened via genetic genealogy or similar modern cold-case techniques (at least not publicly disclosed). Santa Clarita Valley Signal
