Contaminated Evidence or New Knife Found at Crime Scene?

  • #101
The wftv report is wrong.
There was no knife found with the remains.
This has been a rumour since the documents came out, but that is not what the documents say.
This is just bad and false reporting.

The TV News is WRONG???

Certainly you jest, sir.

They have only the most impeccable Unnamed Reliable Sources.

...and resident Experts.

...and pocket lint.

I am so glad I am not the only one who didn't see a book at the crime scene. A sign is a good guess, it looked to thin to be a book to me - what I could see of it anyway. I also didn't see the photo, or any of the other possibilities discussed on that crime scene thread. To me, it was a yellow blob surrounded by lots and lots of leaves, tree roots and debris. I hope we get to see clearer pictures of the area at some point to see who was right and who was wrong!

Of course just to muddy the water, I could claim to have heard the 'knife' was fuond under the 'book'. THAT WAS A JOKE, honest.
I am with you and I am waiting for some confirmation that that was a book at all. It could have been any number of things but the fact that the colors were similar to the book made it hard to separate the 2. I am definitely waiting for some confirmation on this, one way or the other, but I am not at all sold on the book theory.

This is just one time I hope they are right!! We will find out in the next doc dump. LOL (Praying for a second knife...)
I think you'll find we have more than enough Knives! for a conviction?

As a very wise man once said "You don't eat chili with a knife"

I think that says a lot.

If it wasn't a book, then my second guess was Pizza box.

That might have had another knife in it?

I agree, but I am so tired of the argument of how many knives did Casey carry around in her car. You do need a second knife to serve crow. ;)

I am undecided on the book myself. I didn't see anything in the crime photos which really caught my attention as to what other people were seeing there.

IMO, You can kill someone with a dinner knife, a butter knife, or any kind of knife no matter how sharp or dull the blade. If you do not hit any bone to leave tool marks and decomposition has taken place to the point of skeletonization then you simply cannot prove it was a stabbing without the knife and/or blood spatter/pools telling the story.

If CA hadn't wiped it the first thing they should have done is test for pb&j! We know the significance of that in this family.

A typical "Dinner Knife":

A typical "stainless steel knife:
wholesalesoftware_2035_9665013

Sometimes, perhaps wording is just idiosyncratic to the person writing: i.e., one would call a dinner knife a dinner knife and someone else would call a dinner knife by it's composition....a "stainless steel knife" or "tempered steel knife" or a "ceramic knife"......like that.

However, because I am a coveter of cutlery, I would never confuse a dinner knife with a stainless steel one, because I have different purposes in mind for their use. A steel knife would be used as a task knife, chopping nuts, veggies, other stuff in the kitchen. A dinner knife would be just that.

However, that being said, was the dinner knife ever actually given to LE? I thought Cindy said she'd washed it and put it away.

And, as we know from CA's past "hairbrush" shenanigans...who's to say she'd actually turn over the actual knife found in the trunk? :waitasec:

Cindy is not trustworthy and has proven it repeatedly, imo.

ETA: I deleted the other part of my prior post because it was a bit graphic for some and has nothing to do with this case. I didn't want to confuse the knife argument further!

Now...if HP will kindly remove it from his post, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

No.
We have learned you can not trust CA to hand over the correct evidence.
So that is definately TWO knives.
The one CA found and washed and put away, and the one that she gave to LE.
And we have several reputable sources such as WFTV, CNN(NG) and "People" Magazine that all vehermently assert that there WAS a knife in the bag with the remains.
That's THREE knives!

Or maybe Cindy made up the entire story about a knife and so there was NO knife given to LE at all until they found one in the bag with the body. This would take us back to one knife.

I LIKE it !!!

I'm working on a One Knife theory, too, but it involves two break-ins at the evidence rm., someone else who knows where the remains were the whole time, and some split second timing. Needless to say there are some bugs to be worked out.

I never saw anything other than a yellow blob either. I also didn't 'see' a lot of other things in the crime scene photos threads.

I'm either blind, or too literal. Maybe both.

If I could just touch on the book for a moment.
I took the pictures of the crime scene "book" - put it in photoshop, enlarged it, and tried to sharpen the details.
yes, it did look like a book, with similar yellow page or cover, and what looks like a drawing of a chicken of some kind in the lower corner.
I also took screen caps of every page of the book seen in the "You are my sunshine" video on NG.
I compared both side by side to see if there was any match at all.
There wasn't. The artwork in the crime scene footage simply does not match the book Caylee was reading from in the NG footage.
Do I think it was a children's book? yes I do.
But I can tell you, I do not believe that it was the same book.

2nd post. please be kind,
:)

Do you have a copy of your pictures still, or are they already in the Photos thread.

I am a big sceptic. But the "Book" is one thing I thought had some merit.

If I could be convinced I would love to argue the case against all the doubters.
Can you give me any evidence to work with please?

Also Welcome iamkimba !

We are a bit off topic but if you have anything we can move this discussion.

I agree. ...with both, ...or all three, ...or four.

I could not convince myself that what I saw in the photos was a book, or THE book either. It COULD have been, but I wouldn't swear to it.

It could also have been another score for the Eternal Search For Another CLUE team.

Sounds like top notch work.

I don't know if this will help but I found this link:

http://s44.photobucket.com/albums/f13/Caylee_Is_Missing/Caylee Book Fuzzypaws/

when my better half wanted to see what Caylee was reading. It has much better shots to work from than NG screen grabs. Cover and all the pages in full screen.

Good pictures of the real book for comparison, but we need some convincing shots of the thing in the swamp?
I'd settle for any book Does not have to be THAT book. However I f the real book is accounted for who has it?

I agree that it looked like a chicken on the page too. After seeing the enhancement I searched through the old books in the basement for something similar, because it looked familiar. No luck with it though.
