Thanks for posting, @gregjrichards -- Georgia suddenly seems closer to us here in NC since I read that announcement. HTH did that happen?
Scary as h*ll.

Thank you for posting that information @PayrollNerd it is appreciated.

@borndem It is very scary indeed. I don’t understand how this could have happened either. I just hope he is apprehended before any child or adult is harmed.

That prison is located it in the middle of nowhere. If he physically ran, I hope a rancher can literally trap him or round him up. I would seriously derive great satisfaction from seeing this A hole hog tied on the ground like the animal he is.

There are plenty of cameras on prison property. If he called someone to come pick him up, the phone number he dialed and the car would be known to LE.

A tiger doesn't change his stripes. This idiot is going to attempt to reconnect with like minded idiots. Maybe he can take a few of those creeps back to prison with him. Then prosecute those that hid him, helped him avoid detection, etc. Praying no innocent child or person is harmed in this entire process.

Thanks for the info and warning, @PayrollNerd -- let's hope K-9's and other LE are all over the place and have him in sight. We really don't need another worry anywhere on earth.
Keeping my fingers crossed that this time the bad guy will be the first one to do what he is told, such as, "lie down, hands behind your back, right now."

Captured is such a fabulous word... GBI hasn’t updated their site yet but here is another media link. I wonder who was hiding him?

Man, I hope they can figure how this occurred so it never happens again!

Convicted Rapist Is Captured After Being Released From Georgia Prison ‘in Error’

More at the link.

John Warr, the Gwinnett County prosecutor who handled the case, said earlier this week that Mr. Munoz-Mendez had begun molesting the 7-year-old daughter of his girlfriend, culminating in rape several years later.

Mr. Warr said after learning of Mr. Munoz-Mendez’s release that he “immediately” called the victim, who lives with a foster mother, and that they were both “shocked.”

Neither had been contacted by the corrections department, he said.

“Something needs to be done about the protocols, the procedures, about verifying who they’re releasing,” Mr. Warr said of the department.

Mr. Warr said that Georgia had recently passed a constitutional amendment bolstering the rights of crime victims to be notified about updates in legal cases involving those who have harmed them.
