Jeeze, Zeke Emanuel is on CNN saying that they should prep for the surge capacity for health care by renting hotels to house sick people. Ugh, Emanuel is a ob/gyn, but he's an investor first. Profiteering always comes with any public health crisis.

Also ETA: the disaster medicine doctor (Dr. Phillips), is talking about how the medical community in the US has been preparing for this for the last 20 yrs. Lots of committees, planning, practice. Ok, but why were they unable to properly test for it in the beginning?

He's saying he's already planning to get sick from coronavirus. Lots of healht care providers will.

It will be in all 50 states, is already in many states.

Dr. Entrepreneuer Emanuel should stick to OB/GYN and find someone that will be able to speak to where all the LICENSED healthcare workers are gonna come from to staff all these "motel-hospitals".

If they pay high wages, they are going to pull from all the CNA's and registered RN's that work in Nursing Homes, leaving them unstaffed.

Yes, the other doctor was talking about this. He said they have all made plans, etc. for these scenarios for years, but its going to be a problem. He was talking about the long incubation (12 days) period and the length of time docs and other health care professionals will have to be in quarantine. It's going to be problematic.

As for Zeke, he's been on my bad list for many years now.

My neighbour is returning from China on Saturday. She has to self isolate for 14 days, but her partner is free to come and go as he likes according to the information he was given. Colour me confused.

Yes, from what I've read, they are very, very short-handed at CDC. Apparently there were a lot of layoffs in the recent past.

Earlier today, the CDC removed info on its website showing how many people have been tested. No information why (that I know of).

It would be great if states report their numbers. Information should be shared and transparent, imo.

Just made an appt with my doc, since I need a new prescription .
I expected the reception would ask questions about travel etc.....but nothing. I HAVE traveled in the last 2 weeks, though within the US. Still...LAX is a hotbed of international crowds from all over.

I posted earlier that I also had a doc appt today for bloodwork to get meds refilled. There was a sign posted in the waiting room about symptoms and the need to report to the staff there if travel out of the country occurred within the last 2 weeks..or if there was contact with an infected individual within same time frame. Intake person, and doc both used hand sanitizer before touching me or any instrument. Blood work lab tech was wearing a mask, and gloves.

Guess I was encouraged that they didn't seem to be ignoring the situation.
