U.S. CDC on coronavirus: "What is happening now in the United States may be the beginning of what's happening abroad"
BNO Newsroom on Twitter

CDC just now says they are no longer reporting number of total tests done by CDC, since so much testing is being done by states.
Are they going to report the total number tested by states?

What I don't understand:
Fl. dept. of Health today says there are 8 more
'presumptive positive' tests in Fl. awaiting CDC
confirmation. Why is there such a bottleneck
in confirming these cases by CDC?
Can someone notify the new virus czar working
for our gov't. that they need to streamline this
whole testing and reporting debacle?
They are streamlining....CDC talking about it on call right now.

At the gym today a woman told me that her son and daughter-in-law are scheduled to leave Friday for Paris, Amsterdam, and Brussels. As of right now they still plan to go, but her son told her that they are contemplating canceling that trip and just going on a last-minute cruise instead!

Side note: at the end of class, the instructor (who is also a nurse) asked that we please use the Purell station outside the classroom door as we left :)

Fauci: the federal govt is not going to be able to make hundreds of millions of doses of vaccine. Needs commercial partner. @MittRomney asks if govt should provide funding to have capacity ready to go. HHS's Kadlec says yes. Only capacity we have now is egg production #COVID19

Kadlec: We'd have a longer than 6th-month wait to scale up vaccine production based on existing technology (cited egg production). Note Sanofi-Pasteur, others, discussing recombinant production #COVID19

HHS's Robert Kadlec tells @MittRomney U.S. would need 3.5B N95 respirator masks in most severe situation; currently has 10% of what's needed #COVID19

Asked about aircraft exposure, CDC's Anne Schuchat says "just a couple rows" around exposed passenger may be at risk. @MittRomney asks "should we not be telling people on airplanes: you may not cough or sneeze unless you're covering your mouth?" #COVID19. OMG

Interesting that a doctor is announcing that the government needs a corporate partner to produce a vaccine even though there is no vaccine and there will not be a vaccine for 18 months (per his statements on the weekend).

They're talking as though there is a vaccine and it corporate investment is the hold-up to distribution.

I'm starting to think the only way to stop this is ground all domestic travel too.
Yikes!! DH is a physician who does locum work. He’s coming home Saturday & going back in 1 week. I live in a smallish Gulf Coast town. So far there’s no panic buying but I’m still stacking, washing, using sanitizer. But I need Lysol & more bleach.

A cruise?!? Yikes!?!
(But then I’m not a fan of cruises, twice was enough for me)

Good short video on proper hand washing by Dr. Campbell:

Ive got a problem. I have eczema. So hand washing is very bad for me. I usually just wash the handprint/fingerprint side instead of the tops.

Now my hands are starting to crack. It can get bad. I started today to wear vinyl gloves when out where I have to use a touch screen something. But I have a limited supply.

FDA hopes to have the capacity to perform 1 million coronavirus tests soon

US Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Dr. Stephen Hahn said the United States should have the capacity to perform about a million novel coronavirus tests by the end of the week.

"Our expectation in talking to the company that's scaling this up, is that we should have the capacity by the end of the week to have kits available to the laboratories to perform about a million tests,” Hahn explained.

During the Senate Health hearing on response to coronavirus, Hahn was pushed to explain how he thinks the US could do a million tests when to date, it has only been able to perform about 3,600 tests.

Hahn expanded saying, "I want to distinguish between the ability to get the test kits out to the laboratories with the ability with the labs to actually do the test.”

Hahn said the FDA has been working very closely with all manufactures to build on this platform that CDC has developed. The company it is using has "estimated they are going to be able to scale up to deliver 2,500 kits by the end of the week to providers of the test."

My mom is going to Holland at the end of May and I’m going to Portland. So far neither of us are canceling although we are both high risk. I’m going to wear a mask and try to be super careful and hope for the best.

This is what’s going on in Iran amid #coronavirus outbreak. Reminiscent of early days of COVID19 epidemic in China. My friend, a journalist from Iran just translated this video and confirmed the authenticity, I’ll post it shortly. (Video by @HeshmatAlavi)

Well God will protect them. And licking shrines.

I’m sorry. That just really angered me. But I read that the men in the video were arrested for that though.

Is the run on water due to people with wells not on city water?

I’ve seen this asked a few times. I think some prefer the bottled water for drinking, coffee, etc, but I think part of it may also be that local water company employees could get hit with the virus, or other types of scenarios that could temporarily cause issues with water supply or power. That’s the only thing I can think of at the moment.

If there’s more to it than that, I’m not privy to the info!
