Picked up a few more essentials today, great sales on meats at my grocer helped, added some more bread/condiments/OTC meds/goodies for the grandkids, etc; Starting to get more nervous just seeing everybody out and about not utilizing the sanitation wipes for carts, not covering coughs correctly, It’s all making me paranoid. I really just want to get my grandkids and hunker down in our basement until this is under control. When is that exactly? Ugh. Thinking board games are a must buy this weekend, start thinking of things to fight boredom like an earlier poster suggested. MOO
I went to RiteAid to get my prescription (and more peroxide, wipes) and there were so many people in there coughing. Yikes! In and out I was.

PS No hand sanitizer available but they had antibacterial soap, lysol wipes, bleach and candy on the "most popular" shelf.
Putting on my bubble to go out and vote. (if only I had a bubble, I would!) :p
Got any bubble wrap?

JUST IN: A person from Wake County, North Carolina has tested positive for novel coronavirus, according to the governor’s office. North Carolina identifies first case of coronavirus

The person, who had traveled to Washington state, is doing well and is in isolation at home, the governor’s office said.

Statement from North Carolina Governor Cooper on the state's first case of coronavirus. The patient had recently visited the long-term care facility at the center of the Washington outbreak. BNO Newsroom on Twitter

@ncdhhs person flew from Washington state back to NC. NCDHHS is checking with people who may have been on same flight.
This is where I am and I read they flew from China to RDU on 1/23 and are being treated at Duke???? Maybe I got it wrong somehow or there is a 2nd person????

So, for those being quarantined at home, who exactly is keeping tabs on these people? Anyone? Is there a process or will there be. So many questions and so little trust and complete answers. MOOOOO

Dang...in addition to living/working Orange County, my son's company has huge ties with the Seattle area...please please please do not send my boy to Everett no more! Tho I guess he's in as much danger with them sending his co workers...

Hubs has a business trip scheduled up there in a couple weeks. He said all they've received is a notice that its ok not to attend the conference if you're sick.

Son took off for NYC last weekend on last minute biz and I wish he hadn't done that. The other son is on the road all over the midwest doing traveling contract work.

If you are referring to elderly cats and their bathroom habits, here's a tip. I had a cat who lived to (almost) 22 years. She usually forgot where her litter box was located. (Completely senile) So, I placed water absorbent pads around the house, in rooms she mainly frequented. They actually only needed to be laundered every so often. And for smell - the best is Anti-Icky-Poo. Spray it and there is no cat urine smell.
Good tip. So far they still use the box, but sometimes think "next to" is the same as "in."

My guess is NO ONE.
Who is going to stand guard outside each person's apt/house door?

LOL. That's how it starts. I put those same pads around the litter boxes.

This may seem odd but a recent paper showed recoving patient excrete more viral RNA (they didn’t show it was live virus) from the gut later in the infection.
It might be a more reliable way of detecting virus in recovering patients.
Or it might just show people shedding RNA.

I read somewhere that in China they put an electronic monitor on each persons door.

IMO.....every place that we see a positive case, there will be community spread because of the unbelievable slow response to the crisis. Every case so far has multiple days, even weeks before associations were made....

BBM. This isn't true in the U.S. The quarantine of the Diamond Princess was ineffective and was the responsibility of Japan.
About half of the U.S. cases are from the Diamond Princess. There was no slowness to the crisis from U.S. officials. The hundreds of American evacuees from the Diamond Princess were on charter flights and they were immediately isolated when their planes landed in the U.S. They did not enter the terminals at airports, they were transported immediately by highly-trained infectious disease medical personnel to their isolation/quarantine locations.
