Working to contain outside of Milan...

(Reuters) - Italy is considering setting up a new quarantine red-zone near the northern city of Bergamo given the high number of coronavirus cases in the area, the head of the national health institute said on Tuesday.

The Italian government set up two red-zones on Feb. 22 -- one centered on 10 towns in the region of Lombardy, southeast of the country's financial capital Milan, and another, smaller one in the neighboring region of Veneto.

Since then, a growing number of cases have emerged near Bergamo, northeast of Milan. "We are considering the possibility of adopting a measure like this one," health chief Silvio Brusaferro said after being asked if a new red-zone might be created.

Anyone have a current count of cases for Italy?

Nursing home in lockdown after carer, 50, is diagnosed with coronavirus exposing dozens of elderly residents to infection

A nursing home is in lockdown after a 50-year-old staff member contracted the deadly coronavirus disease.

The woman, who works at the nursing home in Macquarie Park in Sydney's north west, could have potentially exposed dozens of elderly residents to the infection.

The carer tested positive to COVID-19 late Tuesday night.

I think Level 4 and Stage 4 are different things. The NHS has declared a level 4 emergency, and the Govt is at stage 1 of its 4-stage plan.

It's the graphic that was included in the article. Not sure why one says level and the other says stage unless perhaps the graphic designer for the news outlet got it wrong.

I'm not talking about the ship....
I'm talking about the home grown cases that we are finding now that transpired weeks ago....
The folks from the ship are the least of our worries....they were in quarantine....
There aren't many "home grown" cases in the U.S. The majority of cases in the U.S. are tracing back to foreign travel. There were NO cases in the U.S. prior to the cruise ship so U.S. CDC did have time to prepare and respond just as they did during the Ebola crisis. My response was to your comment:

"IMO.....every place that we see a positive case, there will be community spread because of the unbelievable slow response to the crisis. Every case so far has multiple days, even weeks before associations were made....

Huge announcement.

I’m still in the last thread but had to come here to say:

It seems I’ve been recruited out of retirement to teach online overseas.

The urgent international call came a few minutes ago.

I can not tell you how DESPERATE they sounded. They are offering me TOP pay. They want me to start tomorrow lol.

Wow my life just changed.

I’m overwhelmed with emotion. Tears.

I will be on the front lines with these kids.

I wanted to add my Congrats too @margarita!

You will be doing your part to help us all fight this terrible virus. Thank you for taking the opportunity and you will do great Im sure.

Walgreens.com is showing out of stock for many of their disposable gloves. I managed to get two boxes. I figure if I don't use them all for this situation, I will eventually use them for touching up my roots!

Remember, ONLINE. I’m not going overseas.

I’m crying. I don’t know why.

Balling actually.
I happy for you. Also curious. If you are inclined to answer, I’m wondering what you retired from to qualify for this position? And how you were recruited?

Feel free to tell me to mind my own beeswax. And congrats!

Which part of the world?

Call came from Beijing. She sounded so overwhelmed and desperate I can not TELL YOU. This literally all happened in 5 minutes. I’m pretty shocked. The call was QUICK. Basically we need you NOW and we will pay you “x” amount and I was like OK and she said we will email you everything, software, etc. and I said ok and that was it.

I had done a basic inquiry when this first started going down, thinking it would be a good way to help and make some extra cash. I sent a note with my qualifications and experience and said I’d be interested in learning more about opportunities. I had actually forgotten I’d even sent my phone number.

This couldn’t come at a better time for me either as my amazon related endeavors, etc are taking a HUGE HIT.

I had missed teaching and I’m so excited. I’ll keep you all posted on how it goes. Of course I will respectfully strictly adhere to confidentiality etc of course.

It seems a variety of subjects? Still not even sure yet.

See above post:) Thank you.

Before I go back to the last thread, I want to say holy moly healthcare workers are getting infected like crazy, so many countries including domestically. I’m so worried about this.

I have many comments and responses to all the posts but NEED to get caught up.

After that my time here may be limited as I will be back to work.

Wow just wow.
@margarita25 Will you be teaching online from your home or must you go overseas?

Yeah. It was a small device, white in color and there were sections on each side of the door they pictured.

I've not read anything about monitoring in the US.

I highly doubt it's been used yet.

Search tip: My local Home Depot and Lowe's as well as Publix (FL grocery store) had Nitrile gloves in stock.
