Huge announcement.

I’m still in the last thread but had to come here to say:

It seems I’ve been recruited out of retirement to teach online overseas.

The urgent international call came a few minutes ago.

I can not tell you how DESPERATE they sounded. They are offering me TOP pay. They want me to start tomorrow lol.

Wow my life just changed.

I’m overwhelmed with emotion. Tears.

I will be on the front lines with these kids.
They are so lucky to have you @margarita25 ! I bet you'll be busy? Will the hours you are teaching be during our day or night hours?

The closest thing to an explanation we got as to why the Coronavirus briefing was off-camera with no-audio was when Pence said Trump was on camera a bunch today.

This is gonna be a hit and run post. I went to Walmart yesterday. The only thing I couldn't find was Melatonin. I did get all the sunscreen I need for the summer, thinking ahead. I am a pool junkie. No one had any masks on....

Today I spent 3 hours at the DMV. Very long lines to get the real ID. The system went down so I have to try again. No masks, no one displaying any cold symptoms.

Next I am going to the CDL dmv since I hear there is no waiting there.....

Everything seems pretty normal here in the burbs of Chicago.

Made a final trip to my local Walmart early morning to refill trail mix and white-chocolate-stash. No hand sanitizer as expected. Rice and dry bean supplies nearly gone. Three containers of off-brand hand wipes left. Three bottles 90% alcohol, a few 70% and several 50%. Toilet paper and other products well stocked.

St Patrick's Day is just two weeks away now. I really wish they would just bite the bullet here in Ireland and cancel the parades.

Coronavirus: No plan to cancel St Patrick’s Day parades ‘at this stage’

Taken from the article:
Earlier, a leading international virologist and expert on influenza has said the Government should cancel St Patrick’s Day parades to avoid the spread of the coronavirus.

Prof John Oxford said Chinese authorities cancelled the Chinese New Year celebrations and Ireland should take this opportunity to stop the spread of the virus.

“The Government should take it a bit more seriously, I know you’ve got only one case [of the coronavirus], but it’s quite likely you’ve got the virus spreading around - this is pretty infectious. It’s not like measles and it’s not quite as infectious as flu, it just moves quietly,” he told RTÉ radio’s Today with Seán O’Rourke Show on Tuesday.

“Like in northern Italy, they sat there for weeks thinking they didn’t have a case, everything was fine, suddenly there was an explosion - they’re the new epicentre now.

“I heard this morning that Italians are now importing the virus back into China, into areas where they’ve not had it before."

Prof Oxford said St Patrick’s Day parades are held all around the country, not just in Dublin. “Every little place has a parade, on top of that you’re getting lots of visitors in from abroad, from all over the place.

"If I were in their [the Government’s] shoes I would say ‘we must postpone it’, it’s not the end of the world for one year. Don’t have it this year because of the things going on, after all the Chinese postponed the Chinese New Year, which is immense. They took it so seriously.

“I would take advantage of the situation you’re in, so that you could prevent a big out break, by taking these actions, I would go ahead and stop the parades.”

He added that this is “a very fruitful opportunity for the virus to get a grip on your country and start spreading.”

Ireland is on my bucket list, but I may have to rethink kissing the Blarney Stone. :(
LOL! Now that would be a site! All the kids would be trying to pop the bubbles!!

NO!! Don’t pop the bubbles!! You don’t know where the air inside came from!!! lol

Before I go back to the last thread, I want to say holy moly healthcare workers are getting infected like crazy, so many countries including domestically. I’m so worried about this.

I have many comments and responses to all the posts but NEED to get caught up.

After that my time here may be limited as I will be back to work.

Wow just wow.
This is fantastic news margarita, one never knows how or when opportunity will come calling, will miss your posts but really- big congratulations to you and to the kids overseas should you decide to accept the mission!

Coronavirus test will be a covered by Medicare and Medicaid, CMS said at WH briefing. Pence said he would look into reports of people being tested and being hit with large bills.

Jim Acosta on Twitter
Medicare part A will only cover procedures done
in a hospital.
I doubt the tests would be done in a hospital.
Poor, older people often do not have supplemental Part B or C or D.
So for older poor people this may still be a deterrent to getting tested.

This is one of the things that has really been bothering me about some of the "officials" I have been hearing in the US. Instead of playing it safe and recommending extra precautions, they instead give poor and/or incorrect advice to people, and now look what happened. A possible case of direct exposure to the person's own relative because of being given poor advice directly from the CDC.

Good Grief. I have lost a lot of confidence in our own officials here in the US about this virus and this is the sort of reason why.

I do think they are starting to learn their lessons but Im afraid its too little and too late at this point.
I don't think they are learning. The same thing happened with "ebola" nurse. She was allowed to fly even though she started having symptoms. Thankfully ebola is not that easily transmitted.

Thanks for posting this as it gives the name of the law firm. My son works for lawyers in Manhattan. It’s not his firm.

Oh boy.....

Their firm, founded in 2001, is located across 42nd Street from Grand Central Terminal, and Garbuz reportedly commuted there on the Metro-North Railroad from their family home in New Rochelle.
