Has anyone checked in our YouTube ladies from the Grand Princess since last night? I need to go find their link and check...
Ok I went and looked for them. They did an updated video today:

I haven’t listened to the whole thing.... but at about the 4 minute mark they play the recording of the Captain (or whoever) overhead speaker message to them today regarding the testing that’s being done.

My main takeaways (not having listened to the whole thing yet):

- the ladies still think they don’t have coronavirus because a ship person came to their cabin a day ago and said they were fine.
- someone off-camera appears to be coughing and I’m not sure who that is
- the Captain has merely advised people to practice “social distancing” when out and about the ship (the ship on which passengers are free to roam).

Well... the Diamond Princess appears to have self-combusted in vain.

MOO.

The bad news is just rolling in tonight:

“DETAILS: Three Grand Princess cruise ship passengers, who were on board with the elderly man who died, visited the senior center over the past few weeks to help with the lunch program.”

San Bruno senior center closes due to possible exposure.

Rumour is that some shops in Melbourne were out of toilet paper, pasta, sauce, and flour yesterday. Today people at hostels are being turned away if they leave the facility. Australians have no choice but to start taking things seriously. The hot spot is Sydney, but it will spread. Maybe Amazon delivers toilet paper in Australia too.
We would love to help our friends in Australia but here in Seattle, Washington area we are in short supply of toilet paper and other goods. Unable to find a store with disinfecting wipes.

What is it with the toilet paper? Do people think that they always have access to food, but not toilet paper? Can they figure out an alternative for toilet paper? Can they figure out an alternative for food?

Every time I see the whole toilet paper panic buying escalation, I have to be honest.... I instantly feel the need to go do the same!!!
There’s not an ounce of logic to it at all, but I just keep asking myself - what do all these people know that I don’t???

I mean, I don’t want to wake up tomorrow and find out that TP is the magic cure.... AND I CAN’T GET ANY!! lol

Yeah, I’ve got nothing.... it’s beyond me. And thankfully, I don’t have to worry about it tonight because Costco is closed anyways.

I think it's going to be okay too. I really do. Yes, I prepped greatly. But, that's just me.
I am not worried about the end of the world as we know it.
I am worried about how people respond. Mostly economically. That's already playing out.
As I'm in the restaurant and catering business, gatherings are essential for our business.
As, I'm also in So. California, I have a HUGE monthly overhead for a Mom and Pop business.
We have been getting ready to sell and get out of California for two years now, plans got pushed back due to hubbys unexpected open heart surgery almost 1 year to this day. Very nearly lost the love of my life.
So, if any of you want to buy a successful restaurant and catering business in San Diego, let me know!
Hell, I'll even throw in my sailboat. Which I live on at least a week a month.
After 4 restaurants over 30 years, hubby's nearly fatal illness...we just want to retire!
A cabin on a lake sounds good.

I still think it's all gonna be okay, up here in Canada
but I'm sitting atop my giant stack of tp.

they were - I saw pictures of the empty shelves
not sure if it was New Zealand or Australia

My son is in Australia and he says there's nothing to worry about, all is well, but he did say that their shopping trip had to hit several stores because many were sold out of those basics. It's also is the local community that people staying at hostels are not allowed back in.

I just want the truth about what this virus is. I don’t believe for a second it’s the flu. Or that when warm weather comes it’ll pass. We are all adults and deserve honest answers.
And it’s insane that in our rich country we can’t have some company churning out tests by the millions.

I really don’t think anyone knows “what this virus is” yet....

But totally agree with the rest.

Who knows what they're thinking!

In general I’ve been more of the “cartooned panic emoji” just out prepping and staying abreast.

Tonight is the first time I’ve become very concerned. For me and my family personally here in SF Bay Area, but also for others as well.

There are some new times ahead I think. Even if only in the way our communities must operate for a while in order to mitigate this genie that’s been let out of the bottle.

MOO

Just got this text

Advice for confirmed/suspected COVID-19 (www.kingcounty.gov/dph/suspected-covid) and guidelines for restaurants (www.kingcounty.gov/covid/food-establishments)

ETA: I didn't realize they had this many.... "In King County, we currently have reported 51 confirmed cases of COVID-19. We are likely to see many more cases of COVID-19 in the coming days and weeks. Symptoms of COVID-19 typically include fever, cough or shortness of breath. Here is guidance on what to do:"
