Quarantined Wuhan residents shout 'fake, fake' from their windows at visiting Chinese Vice Premier to complain about being neglected by officials during coronavirus outbreak

Quarantined residents have been captured on camera yelling 'fake, fake' at a group of Beijing officials as they said authorities had neglected their daily needs.

The compound residents can be heard in a video shouting 'people are paying for overpriced food' and 'it's all fake' from their flat windows.

The quarantined residents claimed that the local authorities had pretended to deliver fresh vegetables and meat to them, according to reports.

These residents are very brave, I’m so glad they did this.

I keep reading about places that are added hand sanitizers. WHERE are they getting their supply?!

(I volunteer on weekends at a place that added sanitzers. The dispensers were full last weekend. I'm curious if they are still in supply this weekend. I'll find out tomorrow.)

So true. My gym can barely keep it the dispensers filled.

Stuck behind the paywall - can anyone please annotate the 4 tricks to help limiting touching your face?

Keep a box of tissues handy.

Identify triggers.

Keep your hands busy.

Chill.

Bonehead indeed. Since he’s a medical resident I hope he is somehow discipled by his hospital. Very very poor judgement and I wouldn’t want him as a doctor someday

There is some truth to this. No one wants to hinder folks from getting tested (if there are actually enough tests to test them ). And sadly, it is not realistic to expect all to be responsible enough about self isolation.

On another note, I love that she called him a "bonehead." The jails would be full if that were a criterion for arrest. JMO

I cannot understand what is preventing the World Health Organization from declaring this "pandemic", a "pandemic" !

Coronavirus outbreak: What is a pandemic and what happens if one is declared?

"What’s the difference between a pandemic and an epidemic?
An epidemic refers to an event in which a disease is actively spreading. Usually, this is an outbreak that has grown out of control but is often within one country or location.

A pandemic is an epidemic on a far greater geographic scale that affects a much large number of people."

"What is a pandemic?
A pandemic, a word from the Greek pan ("all") and demos ("people"), is the term used by disease experts when epidemics are growing in multiple countries and continents at the same time."

"Despite the fear the word evokes, "pandemic" refers to the spread of a disease, not its potency or deadliness."

The World Health Organisation defines the term as "an outbreak of a new pathogen that spreads easily from person to person across the globe".

My office sent an email early last week about the virus and said that they would be distributing hand sanitizers for our desks. I laughed to myself thinking where they gonna get THAT supply from, they have no clue.

And yup, here it is almost 10 days later and still no sanitizers.

People are still being hospitalized for influenza, likely in larger numbers than for COVID-19, even though the influenza epidemic is on the usual seasonal wane

I am worried about seasonal allergies. I get them bad in Spring and OTC medication helps. I'm afraid I won't know this season if it's allergies or the virus.

Hear ya about allergies. Yet allergies for me don't give me a fever.

President Trump says he "may go" to the CDC

President Trump said today that he actually may still go to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention after the trip was canceled.

Trump said the visit was canceled because of a potential case of coronavirus.

“We may go — they thought there was a problem with CDC with somebody who had the virus,” he said, adding that the person in question has been tested and it came back negative.

“I may be going,” he added.

mine didn't listen either when I said 15 days ago , so I took a chance and ordered an ungodly amount of Lysol, rubber gloves , and ordered 20 Sanitizer bottles and got 2, they are in my desk under my stash or Starbucks pods and hostess tiny donuts! OH and BTW I did go to Wal -Mart last night and all that was left were 3 boxes of dingdongs and 1 chocolate covered twinkies ! I got them but wanted the regular ones! i wonder how long they will really last ( I hid them in my too small to wear drawer, that drawer never opens )

Dow tumbles 800 points as coronavirus fears grip Wall Street

The Dow opened 800 points lower as coronavirus fear continues to impact Wall Street. The S&P 500 was down 3% and the Nasdaq dropped 3%.

Investors poured money into safe-haven assets: US Treasury bond buying skyrocketed, and the 10-year yield fell below 0.7% to a new record low. Gold is up more than 1% and pushing $1,700 an ounce.

The US Labor Department said Friday that the US economy added 273,000 jobs in February. The unemployment rate fell to a historically low 3.5%.

Coronavirus fears hadn't yet fully taken hold when the jobs survey was completed in mid-February.
