Well, no wonder I'm the way I am!!! I'm for sure a kick butt & take names kinda person - and I'm also 40% Czech. I'd fine their butts too!!!

I called the doctors office this morning to see if they could fit me in today. The lady on the phone asked me the Coronovirus survey questions before they'd even see if they could fit me in. Arrived at the check in desk an hour later, was asked the survey questions again from the receptionist. Called back to check in with the nurse, she asked the survey questions too. So 3 times I was asked all the same questions. Then, I got to see the doctor - who did not ask me any virus questions, thankfully.

Miami cancels 2 major music festivals because of coronavirus

The Ultra Music Festival and the Calle Ocho Festival have been postponed due to fears and concerns about the coronavirus.

The mayor of Miami said the cancellations should not cause “panic” as the decision was made as a “precaution” and following CDC guidelines for large gatherings.

Ultra is a 3-day electronic dance music festival that was founded in 1999 and takes place in the heart of downtown Miami. This year 210 performing artists were expected to take the stage and organizers were expecting fans from 105 countries.

The Calle Ocho Music Festival is an event that spans 20 blocks and 10 stages of music and entertainment in Little Havana.

EU Ambassadors' meeting canceled after second staff member tested positive for coronavirus

A scheduled meeting of EU Ambassadors did not take place Friday morning because a second member of Council staff became infected by COVID-19. The staff member had been in close contact with "at least" one of the EU Ambassadors.

The regular Friday meeting was “postponed” to give officials time to identify who the infected person had been in contact with.

As a precaution, parts of the European Council where the staff member had been are now being sealed off. At the moment all other meetings are going ahead.

And this is just the beginning :(

As they say, this is a marathon, not a sprint. I think it's going to get worse before it gets better, and this might last for months...or as it spreads and peaks in different countries maybe even for the whole year :(

This is actually a very sad moment for me, but welcome aboard @Amonet .....

I was really hoping this moment would be the other way around.

Signs of progress against the coronavirus epidemic emerged in China on Friday with epicentre Hubei province reporting no new cases of infection outside the provincial capital and scientists pointing to advances in the development of vaccines and drugs.

In Beijing, Zheng Zhongwei, director of the National Health Commission’s Science and Technology Development Centre, said China was moving full steam ahead to develop vaccines for the coronavirus, which has so far sickened more than 90,000 people and killed over 3,000 worldwide.

“Our different approaches [to vaccines] are steadily advancing and [we are] following national laws and regulations [in our development],” Zheng said. “According to our estimates, we are hopeful that in April some of the vaccines [that are being developed] will enter clinical research or they would be of use in emergency situations.”

Expert: Washington 'potentially on cusp of Wuhan 2.0' with coronavirus

“I think the Seattle area in Washington state is potentially on the cusp off being a Wuhan 2.0,” cautioned Dr. Ding, epidemiologist, health economist, and nutrition scientist at the Harvard Chan School of Public Health.

Dr. Ding worries that the state is following a similar pattern to how coronavirus was first handled in Wuhan, China, where the country was slow to ramp up testing and containment.

He went on to note that the possibility of shutting down large events like Emerald City Comic Con in downtown Seattle should be something under “urgent consideration.” The yearly convention brought in 98,000 people in 2019, and plans to go forward as scheduled this year. However, tickets are refundable.

Asked what Singapore had gotten right, Redfield said, "it's early diagnosis, isolation, contact tracing, and some very targeted mitigation steps" that included closing schools in areas with high case load.

The other thing that separates the U.S. and Singapore is the ability to have a unified response.

In the U.S., policy and science officials' message has been "pretty much all over the board," said Osterholm.

It is bleeping CRIMINAL that we still are so hobbled in our testing. I simply cannot grasp WHY we can't use the WHO kit that others are using. If the CDC could not do its job (not blaming the actual people who are doing their best with short staff, the morale there must be not good) it should have communicated that at an early date instead of shuffling off all these lies...

The article (below) reminds us to wash our hands for 20 seconds.

In kindergarten, my daughter was taught to sing the alphabet while washing her hands.

Of course, it took way too long because there were many pauses for her to remember which letter came next. My husband and I had to come up with something exciting (even more than the alphabet!) to time the hand washing!

Hand sanitizer sold out? Here's how to make your own. | Live Science
"Whether you're applying hand sanitizer or soap and water, the CDC offers guidelines for their use. Sanitizer should be applied to all hand surfaces and rubbed for about 20 seconds, until it is dry. Hand washing should follow five steps: Wetting the hands; lathering soap (covering the backs of your hands, under the nails and between fingers); scrubbing all surfaces for 20 seconds; rinsing with clean water; and drying with a clean towel."
