Florida bracing for coronavirus tourism impacts

In Pensacola Beach, there are no plans to cancel any events, including the popular Bands on the Beach outdoor concert series, which starts April 7.

In Panama City Beach, the mood about the strength of this season is "cautiously optimistic."

In Volusia County, Bike Week, an annual 10-day event that officially opened on Friday in Daytona Beach, was on track. The event is expected to draw between 400,000-500,000 motorcycle enthusiasts to the region, which includes Volusia and Flagler counties.

The Daytona Beach Welcome Center said they haven't received a single call from students concerned about coronavirus.

BETHLEHEM, West Bank, March 7 (Reuters) - Fifteen American tourists have been quarantined in a hotel in the West Bank city of Bethlehem as part of precautions against the coronavirus, a Palestinian government spokesman said on Saturday.

15 Americans stuck in Palestinian hotel due to coronavirus

Group sought lodgings elsewhere in the Bethlehem area on Thursday but was turned down by every establishment

At least 40 people have been quarantined against their will in a Palestinian hotel near Bethlehem, in the West Bank, due to an outbreak of coronavirus. They include 15 American citizens, as well as about 25 Palestinian guests and employees.

The Angel Hotel, in mostly Christian Beit Jala, just west of the city where Jesus is said to have been born, is where seven people were discovered to have the virus, making them the first known cases in the Palestinian Authority, a matter made public on Thursday morning.

I've been sick about it for days....I realized it with the LA County and Washington pressers when they wouldn't mandate. Then the WHO got mad on one of their pressers and said practically the same thing you just said. No one has the guts to lock it down. I'm just beside myself...

:( I'm seriously frightened. I can't believe they are all this stupid. And I have all these morons in my FB feed talking about how they aren't concerned.

One additional #HCoV19 genome from the Seattle area #COVID19 outbreak. This also groups with the emerging outbreak clade. Evidence so far supports a single introduction into the area and subsequent spread.

Australia's deputy chief medical officer Paul Kelly told reporters in Canberra on Saturday that health authorities were "learning things about the virus every day" and that it was now clear that the coronavirus had spread to some passengers through their meal trays.

"We've learned a lot from the Diamond Princess cruise ship," Professor Kelly said.

"Unfortunately, the evidence is fairly strong now that crew delivering food and the trays themselves of food that were infected prolonged and then increased the number of cases that were being found on that cruise ship."

US has weak leadership at top and it filters down.
Pence and other state and city leaders need to STOP calling it a LOW RISK at this time.

Florida is no longer a Low Risk.
Then travelers, spring breakers, beach tourists,
theme park visitors and all are in denial.

As soon as the tests arrive in Fl. and the results
come in, I predict this will be a hotbed of cases. The backlog is just too huge.

Orlando Intn'l Airport still has 5 million travelers per month. Largest in state.
Only 36 being monitored in Orlando/Orange County. It's a joke.

Til we have a national spokesperson who's knowledgeable and has the ability to direct and lead, states will do their own thing.

"The figures we gathered suggest that the American response to the coronavirus and the disease it causes, COVID-19, has been shockingly sluggish, especially compared with that of other developed countries."

Still wonder if there's a political reason US
did NOT use available WHO tests. ??
Did US cutoff relationship or donations to WHO?
There's a story behind this failure, IMO.
Just waiting for it to be exposed.

Hi all, we submitted the #COVIDー19 genome sequence from the viral strain linked to the #GrandPrincess cruise ship off coast of San Francisco to #GISAID. Phylogenetic analysis shows that it clusters with the outbreak clade circulating in Washington State. @UCSF #coronavirus

There will be no stopping the virus if it gets a foothold in Florida. So many people who live there are vulnerable. I predict that middle of April, it will be rampant.
