Omg LMAO.

You know you’ve watched too many WHO conferences when you type “Boo who”! :D

(No boo to WHO from me! I think Doc T and Dr. Mike rock, as you all know!)
I’m irate. Self imposed timeout.

This is Selfish Egotism at its highest. imo.

Yeah I don’t want to cancel my yoga, boo freakin who!!

ETA:

If everyone starts saying, “well I’m not doing this and that”...

This is exactly what I was talking about early on, how some people will not cooperate with recommendations that affect everyone, that won’t like being told what to do...

I might have to sign up for twitter and give him a piece of my mind.

As an immunosuppressed partly Asian American, 6% or less, my family has done the DNA test, I have not yet. It is a great concern to me! My grandson carries all the traits that I do as well. Lactose intolerance and horrible ear infections. He is 13 months old and he is just like me! I'm praying he hasn't inherited my immune deficiency, but I fear he has.
I have no way to protect my mucus membranes!
So IF there is an Asian default to COVID19, I want to know about it!
MOO

The study has faced huge criticism as it only had a single Asian male sample, and only about 7 or 8 others from the rest of the world. Not nearly enough to draw large conclusions from.

Another study, with a larger sample number, did suggest that the Ace2 vulnerability might be greater in smokers. And as Chinese males have a high rate of smoking, perhaps that was what was the reason for the high number in the Asian male sample in the 'not so good' study.

The head of the Lombardy's intensive care crisis unit says the health system is on the brink of collapse, intensive care being set up in hallways. By March 26 they predict ~18,000 #Covid19 cases in Lombardy, of which ~3,000 will need intensive care. L’allarme in Lombardia: «Stiamo creando terapie intensive anche nei corridoi»

24/ “It can become necessary to put soon an age limit to enter ICU […] to save scarse resources for who has the largest chances of survival”,
says a horrifying document from the Italian Society of anesthesiology, reanimation and intensive care.

True....

The known U.S. death toll is now 19. When it was 19 in China they'd already begun building two new hospitals and 20 quarantine facilities in one city.

WHO DIRECTOR: 'I'M AN OPTIMIST'

World Health Organisation director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has said he remains an 'optimist' after the number of confirmed coronavirus cases worldwide surpassed 100,000.

Writing on twitter, Ghebreyesus said: “I am at heart a realistic optimist.

“I believe countries & individuals can be persuaded to fight the #coronavirus more forcefully.

“We at @who are continuing to issue guidance & steps for how to do so & providing other support.”

He added: “Even though we are over 100,000 #covid19 cases, this is a relatively young outbreak. We’re still learning about it.

“The new R&D blueprint will help researchers everywhere collaborate to develop new tools, incl therapeutics, vaccines & more diagnostics.”

5 more coronavirus cases in Scotland as number of UK infections soars

Considering all the resistance and skepticism about CV around me in my own local circles, it just occurred to me, imagine how Dr. T feels. He’s been saying from the beginning, (paraphrasing), that there are some entities who are not taking this as seriously as they should be, hence the constant references to the “window of opportunity narrowing”, etc.

ARGENTINA ANNOUNCES FIRST DEATH IN LATIN AMERICA

Authorities in Argentina have announced the first coronavirus death in Latin America.

The country's Ministry of Health said the the patient was a 64-year-old who lived in Buenos Aires.

They had been confirmed to have contracted coronavirus, though already suffered with diabetes, hypertension, and bronchitis, a statement said.

Argentina confirmed its first confirmed case on March 3, and now has eight active cases.

The outbreak took a number of weeks longer to reach South America than other continents, but cases have now also been confirmed in countries including Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, and Colombia.

BREAKING: Virginia reports first case of coronavirus as U.S. Marine at Fort Belvoir tests positive

Oh no....

Description
Fort Belvoir is a United States Army installation and a census-designated place in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. It was developed on the site of the former Belvoir plantation, seat of the prominent Fairfax family for whom Fairfax County was named. Wikipedia

How many Marines, barracks, etc are housed there? This is worrisome.

I have to do a conference session. Marking spot. Any more information about this is appreciated.

That terrifies me. I am so scared of that happening to me.

Same here....the thing is...she is getting this sort of treatment but how many more can our system manage in this sort of fashion? I have told my sons I do not want put on a ventilator, I would rather have whatever sort of palliative care that can be given but do not make drastic efforts to save me. I would rather that, yes, they save that sort of effort for someone younger...I'm not ancient, 57, but I would rather they save my sons than me...

I don't wish this awful virus on anyone but if it lands in the back yard of those in power maybe that will get their attention like nothing else.
