558 detected cases in the US so far, a plus of 100 cases today and the day is not over. Detection is limited by test kits/facilities that can test. I assume there are likely 20,000 active cases in the US right now. Maybe more.

We are extending our voluntary isolation. My teens old middle school just confirmed active cases there and their older siblings attend my teens highschool. Only a matter of time for more cases.

DH and I have dental appointments on Tuesday and then my 84 year old mom has a lab draw and a yearly health exam all in the next 2 weeks. I'm trying to figure out what to do.

These sound like annual /biannual checkups and cleanings, right?

If so, they could reasonably be postponed for 2 months.

If your mother has a blood draw for medication monitoring, I'd go to a lab draw station that was fairly small (like not in a large hospital ) and have her wear a mask and gloves.

Other than that, honestly, I'd stay away from places with sick people, and people really close to my face. I'm sure they will understand and be most receptive to your wishes.

It already has, in the subway in New York City, I think it was. Someone sprayer an Asian American with Febreeze.
Do you have a link for that?

I was on the subway three times today and twice yesterday. I've noticed absolutely nothing different than how it normally is on the subway.

I feel sick...

Man.

This isn’t about boohooin’...just sayin. This is freaking sickening.

That’s the last time I’m going to say that. It’s all about moving forward.

I’m so behind, going to see what’s up with Dr. Nancy. I know you guys have already posted so much.

Thanks for letting us know @Oregonmama. Can you describe what voluntary isolation looks like from the inside for those of us who may be heading toward that decision? Thanks!

I read an article a few weeks ago about food you can freeze and was surprised by some of the items. ... I am going to try to freeze peeled bananas and eggs cracked into small containers.

Frozen bananas are delicious! Like ice cream. :)

Sounds like people are expecting social chaos, perhaps planning to shoot any unknown people who are perceived as a threat.
One thing that i can imagine happening, is drugstore and hospitals ect. getting robbed for items like ventilators and other medical supplies.
imo,speculation.

Going to the hairdresser on Tuesday and we are going to discuss "Weave Maintenance during Quarantine"

ie: I'm not coming out of social isolation unrecognizeable because my hair has reverted to it's roots.....

You can buy frozen bananas dipped in chocolate. But I don't think they will last long. Like everybody else said, you can't buy something that you will eat right now.
