Washington state

From their website....county, age, gender

So it’s obvious that the younger generations can acquire it, so....

Yeah, if they don’t take it seriously then again there’s the issue of super spreading. Moo.

Good for him for taking it seriously.

First politician from those two meetings that I've heard say the right thing. Never expected it to come from Ted Cruz...

These sound like annual /biannual checkups and cleanings, right?

If so, they could reasonably be postponed for 2 months.

If your mother has a blood draw for medication monitoring, I'd go to a lab draw station that was fairly small (like not in a large hospital ) and have her wear a mask and gloves.

Other than that, honestly, I'd stay away from places with sick people, and people really close to my face. I'm sure they will understand and be most receptive to your wishes.
It's so frustrating. DH is a physician and thinks that now is better than later. My feelings are that we have a lot more than we think. Also I'm now in the high risk category. I'll probably cancel. He'll probably go. The staff at our dentist always wear masks and goggles but they aren't N95 masks.

Why are governors declaring "State of Emergency"? INMO, that seems super scary.
It releases money to be used on the problem. (I think Federal money?) It doesn't mean thing are in chaos, but just that they need money that isn't in the normal budget, but need to tap into emergency funds.

That's my understanding. If I'm wrong, people will surely correct me.

One thing that i can imagine happening are drugstore and hospital robberies for items like ventilators and other medical supplies.
imo,speculation.

Well drug stores don't carry ventilators in their stocks. They are large machines, about the size of a dishwasher, but taller.

And hospitals in my area are all going on "Controlled Access" with only one door + ER open to the public and armed security at access points for hospital staff.

A nearby hospital had to fire 15 employees for diversion of medical supplies (I believe it was masks and hand sanitizer). Stealing hospital supplies is an incredibly stupid way to lose your ability to ever work in a full/time job with benefits. Welcome to the Taco Bell night shift.

If it was me, and I felt high-risk (which I kinda do) I would not go to a dental visit unless I had a severe problem or emergency, like cracking a tooth or losing a crown. ( *fingers crossed- remind myself not to eat gummy bears*). I think it's gonna get worse for probably 8 weeks, then we will be able to re-assess what's important.

Thanks for letting us know @Oregonmama. Can you describe what voluntary isolation looks like from the inside for those of us who may be heading toward that decision? Thanks!
Staying at our home. No driving anywhere. I'm thankful we have a huge backyard because I have told my teens i expect outdoor activities for an hour or so to complete their gym requirement. My 2 teens have been playing basketball in our back yard driveway . They also helped chop up wood from downed trees from our little windstorm we had as well. I'll be honest, my teen daughter is a social butterfly but seeing her play basketball with her freshman brother and help him chop wood is a great sight to see instead of their teen bickering.

And that reminds me.

It's a good idea to throw out old toothbrushes or electric toothbrush heads and use new clean ones.

DH and I have dental appointments on Tuesday and then my 84 year old mom has a lab draw and a yearly health exam all in the next 2 weeks. I'm trying to figure out what to do.
I know how you feel. I have an outpatient hospital appointment in a few weeks' time that I have been waiting months for (public health system) and am a bit worried about. I would like to get the all-clear. I'm torn between whether to cancel it and go to the back of the queue for another appointment or just go ahead with the test and hopefully have my mind put at rest when I get the result. I'm not too worried about possible infection from the clinician but the last time I went to that particular hospital I was in a tiny waiting room for several hours with other people coughing all over the place while we waited to be seen...

CDC typically posts travel health notices for countries and other international destinations, not conveyances, such as ships, airplanes, or trains. Because of the unusual nature of the novel coronavirus outbreak, the US government is advising US travelers, particularly those with underlying health issues, to defer cruise ship travel.

COVID-19 and Cruise Ship Travel | Travelers' Health | CDC

Glad to see this very important containment measure being advised (finally).

How are you holding up with rations? There's 4 of you right?

We are extending our voluntary isolation. My teens old middle school just confirmed active cases there and their older siblings attend my teens highschool. Only a matter of time for more cases.

Maybe a stupid question, but why can't the cruisers stay on the ship, and quarantine in place?. Supplies and food could be loaded as needed? IMO

Hi and and welcome to the discussion.

There has been a lot that has been learned from the Diamond Princess in Japan re: ship quarantine. I’m woozy atm but maybe someone else here can explain and supply a few links...@dixiegirl1035 , @JerseyGirl ...

We r fine, just the four of us and my 3rd kid is away at college. Hubby did a lot of fishing before our isolation so we have salmon, clams and tons of meat. I'm always stocked up so no panic re rations.

That sounds so cool.
