Staying at our home. No driving anywhere. I'm thankful we have a huge backyard because I have told my teens i expect outdoor activities for an hour or so to complete their gym requirement. My 2 teens have been playing basketball in our back yard driveway . They also helped chop up wood from downed trees from our little windstorm we had as well. I'll be honest, my teen daughter is a social butterfly but seeing her play basketball with her freshman brother and help him chop wood is a great sight to see instead of their teen bickering.

They sound like great kids. They'll adapt and have stories to share with all their friends

You've watched some walking dead episodes right?
Actually, they're more likely to be held up for drugs. I'm not talking penicillin, if you know what I mean.

One thing that i can imagine happening, is drugstore and hospitals ect. getting robbed for items like ventilators and other medical supplies.
imo,speculation.

We r fine. Hubby did a lot of fishing before our isolation so we have salmon, clams and tons of meat. I'm always stocked up so no panic re rations.

Oregon salmon and clams YAAASSSS

Stay inside....wish you well...

If you are under "quarantine" do you absolutely have to "stay inside"? Why can't kids play outside in their yard? Or people work on their garden and do yard work? Quarantine means isolation, not "lock down in the house"?

One of the most powerful aspects of genomic data for #COVID19 is the ability to make connections between seemingly disparate outbreaks. This is a thread describing one such possible connection. Please keep in mind this is only a hypothesis and not proven fact. 1/9
Trevor Bedford on Twitter

Thanks to rapid work by @UWVirology and @seattleflustudy we now have 13 #HCoV19 genomes from Washington State. All 12 of the genomes from community cases have grouped into an emerging outbreak clade. 2/9

This figure shows the genetic relationships among these viruses, where all the WA viruses are closely related. Given this shared ancestry pattern, it looks like the large majority of current cases in WA derive from a single introduction event. auspice 3/9 Trevor Bedford on Twitter

I believe this introduction event was likely mid-Jan (https://t.co/cYmyTdU4Cg), but even if it wasn't WA1 that introduced the virus, this level of genetic diversity alongside frequent positive specimens (UW Virology on Twitter) argues for a sizable outbreak. 4/11

Another indication of outbreak size is seeing offshoots of an outbreak arrive elsewhere in the world. For example, international travel cases were an early indication of how sizable the outbreak in Wuhan really was (MRC Centre for Global Infectious Disease Analysis on Twitter). 5/11

Absolutely stellar work by @cychiu98 at @UCSF alongside @CAPublicHealth has revealed a community case in California which may have been acquired on the Grand Princess cruise ship in Feb. Charles Chiu on Twitter 6/11

The virus "CA-CDPH-UC1" appears to nest within genetic diversity of the Washington State outbreak. This suggests a scenario in which an individual infected in WA travelled to California / Grand Princess and instigated a chain of transmission that led to this case. 7/11
Trevor Bedford on Twitter

The exact circumstances of this possible transmission from WA to CA cannot be known from the genetic data alone. But the occurrence of spread from WA to CA is another indicator of the size of the WA outbreak. 8/11

Agree. Completely. Not sure though for the Italians. Definitely forbidden in China.

Yeah I have that video memorized, not even kidding.

Remember that is a very tame version, based on the network’s affiliations moo, but a must watch indeed.

You and I both. And yes, most of us know it was produced by the Chinese Government, yet an excellent documentary. I have watched it again and again. It is a training tool for other countries.

Obviously US hasn't tested enough for good data.....

Coronavirus cases per 10 million of population across countries with the highest number of cases. I have added Sweden and Belgium to the graph.
I am sorry I have not responded to your comments on the previous post, was not expecting such an overwhelming response. Behrooz Hassani-M on Twitter

That looks like a monster’s claw.
I think we’re about to spike bigtime moo. That thing this is going to go up like a rocket, right?

My brain has conked out.

Interesting article about the wife of the NY man who was the first to be diagnosed, and who is still in the hospital.

She said she immediately contacted authorities and people who were in contact.

But, I really liked this part:
“'We shuttered the windows, turned off the internet and together stayed strong and in good spirits.'”

Staying off the internet - what a wise woman! They needed to take a breath, focus, be together.

More of her story at the link:

Ha! I love it.

This is so sad for the loved ones of the victim who died, but probably understandable for the local community, given the high rate of infection in Iran.

It was posted about 4 threads ago that there is a process for infectious diseases that pass in the US. They are wiped with bleach and are non infectious and no worries - family members are encouraged to touch and kiss etc.

I'm assuming he knows about this first case in the USA on January 19 in Washington, so it's not a stretch to speculate that it is the source of the current outbreak.

"On January 19, 2020, a 35-year-old man presented to an urgent care clinic in Snohomish County, Washington, with a 4-day history of cough and subjective fever."
