is anything being done to close off flights coming into US airports from
the badly infected countries?
Early on many US airlines cut back flights going overseas but it was because of low passenger counts.

CLARK COUNTY (FOX5) -- A second presumptive positive case of novel coronavirus was identified in Clark County, according to the Southern Nevada Health District.

A spokesperson with SNHD said the investigation was in preliminary stages and couldn't release the person's identity, recent travel or quarantine status.

The spokesperson said more information would be released Monday.

A second presumptive positive case was also identified in Washoe County Sunday. That case involves a man in his 30s who recently traveled to Santa Clara, but didn't exhibit symptoms while traveling.

All presumptive positive cases must be tested by the CDC for further confirmation.

US Surgeon General

Americans: if you are sick with fever/cough/ flu symptoms, please don’t go to work!
Employers: PLEASE understand giving your employees flexibility and (paid) sick leave will save you money in the long run- it’s much cheaper than shutting down because everyone else gets sick!

U.S. Surgeon General on Twitter

And how about adding to this, if your employer gives you any hassle about it, then you can sue them for endangering the health of the United States of America under the Domestic Terrorism statutes and another gazillion charges I could think of off the top my head)

A little extreme? 75% are likely to say yes it is, imo (1/4 Mooooooooooo jmooooooo)

My daughter has a friend who is a runway model. She was in Milan and recently flew to India. She has been quarantined for 2 weeks - standard practice in India for people arriving from Italy.

Dr. Fauci is on "60 Minutes" right now, I predict that next week, he "will be "too" busy" working to attend any press conferences.

We will see more of VP Pence and Dr. Carson in front of cameras only.

As the State Department is now involved with it's appropriate, but surprising warning about cruise ships, I think the politicians may be backing off.

At least I hope they are.

Dr. Faucci and Dr Gottlieb need to be the absolute last voices on this issue.

My Daughter in law's mother lives in China. She called last week Wednesday or so, and said it the wave of this is about to hit the US...

It sure the heck is, moo000. This is like a surreal dream...

Was able to sell my second kidney and am operating on a robotic kidney now :rolleyes:so going out for my LAST and final trip to the store and grabbing some beer and then fastening my seatbelt.

Is there a :fasteningmyseatbelt: emoji?

Nice to see you, @momrids6

Here's the breakdown of what state COVID emergency declarations explicitly authorize re: government powers. Note - additional powers extend from underlying statutory or regulatory laws as well. James G Hodge Jr on Twitter

Dr. Faucci has been a legend in medical communities for decades. He isn't just "a member of the committee" . He IS the committee.

There is no reason to bring out Pence or especially Carson any more.

Oh my....what a story....please read at the link.....

In January, firefighters responded seven times to the Life Care facility. In February, and the first five days of March, they responded 33 times.

Firefighters are now grappling with the idea that coronavirus may have already been circulating at Life Care for weeks and that they, and Life Care workers, residents and visitors, had not been warned to take precautions, And that they may have inadvertently helped spread the virus farther.

In the days leading up to last Friday, Life Care staff and first responders were using nebulizers and CPAP machines to treat patients. “We essentially aerosolized it,” one first responder said, because before last Friday, that was standard protocol to treat patients.

“We made it worse,” he said.

The ominous days leading up to the coronavirus outbreak in the Seattle area

This is heartbreaking! But the lack of communication at Life Care with employees and families does not surprise me at all. My husband and I spent three years in a lovely cottage at an independent living/assisted living facility in our town. We finally had to flee because it was so poorly run and it was causing us too much stress and anger. We keep an eye on an old friend with dementia at that facility and we brace ourselves for what may come.

I’ve figured it out... its your plumbing and you need to prevent and protect against any aerosol plumes....

:D

(Noooooooo!!!!!!!!! That’s not it!!!!! Thankfully!!)

Yup. You nailed it. I can’t wait to watch it here on the west coast.

This optimism at its best..

As we anticipate lock-downs.. Cambridge had to shut down in 1665 due to plague. Newton spent the next two years in confinement in Woolsthorpe. During that time, he discovered Calculus and the laws of Optics. This was the greatest intellectual productivity in human history..

Yep, that's the ticket. Hopefully another Newton will be on lock down.

And this will be why mandatory measures will be required.....

San Francisco officials have advised people to stay away from large gatherings. Local pro sports teams are holding their events anyway. San Francisco Is Taking an Aggressive Approach to Coronavirus. Not Everyone Is Listening.

Defying the advice of Santa Clara County, the San Jose Sharks hockey team played on Thursday & declined to cancel their Saturday & Sunday home games. The San Jose Earthquakes, a Major League Soccer team, also declined to cancel their Saturday home game.
