Costco was surreal today. Signs on Toilet paper, rice, sugar, water, coffee, flour, that the limit is "Two". Everyone there, had their limits of "two".

I had to resist the urge to buy Toilet Paper. We don't need any.

There were fewer people, less workers, and no samples at all. It was a grim shopping experience. People are not happy, normal, smiling. It was a serious business. Wow.

In general, talking about the virus is not "politically correct" any more. Be careful peeps, stay zipped at work.

I need toilet paper, and the store is sold out of that and paper towels.. Thankfully we have a bunch at work that I can borrow.

You are awesome. You make me miss my ranch so much! I love spicy food. I would feel right at home hunkering down at your place. Scrambled eggs, salsa and tortillas for breakfast.
I should try my hand at homemade tortillas or might be a good project if I do get home isolated. I better find some recipes and see if I have the stuff to try. I think I can make my own pasta if I have to.

And in a pinch, you can substitute tortillas for toilet paper.

And just how long are we supposed to be avoid going out? How do you cope with the depression that will result with being unable to physically get out of the house, or just being able to smile at a person? Talking on the phone or skyping is only going to reinforce that outside of that 10 minute interaction with people, you are left alone for the rest of the day, week, month? Really, outside of warning people, this is not helpful to seniors.

MOO

They can go for walks and stuff. Just avoid crowds. But o get your point. I’ve been halfway isolating and it’s horrible.

Imo there are going to be huge challenges with contact tracing, like, “oh yeah, I forgot about that stop at the gas station”...kind of thing..glad to see some of you taking notes already, I’ve had this on the brain as well the past few days...

The good thing is that our cell phones will help with contact tracing a lot.

Or, if you're feeling nostalgic. . . I bet everyone has the last Yellow Pages you ever received somewhere in the house. . . and don't forget, the Sears catalog did double duty back in the "backhouse" days of yore. IMO

@Inthedetails This is maybe the one I saw interview on tv this evening. Not sure now.

This is a case of a young person:

A New Jersey medical worker who was the Garden State’s first coronavirus patient says every day his health is “getting worse” — and warned others to take the bug more seriously, especially since he has none of the underlying conditions that officials have warned about.

James Cai, a 32-year-old physician’s assistant, said he thinks he caught the bug while attending a medical conference last weekend at a Times Square hotel, news station WCBS reported.

“It happened so quick,” Cai told the outlet. “The virus is everything. Diarrhea, watery eyes, shortness of breath, chest pain, you name it. High fever. … Every day is getting worse.”

Cai said he first visited an urgent-care clinic, then went to the emergency room at Hackensack University Medical Center, where he’s remained since Tuesday, according to the outlet.

Both are super easy to make and way better than store bought.

Pasta is just flour egg and water - but I only have one egg but my pantry is stocked (we are hurricane ready at all times) I can last months if I have power but also have propane and charcoal for outdoor cooking - I’m heading on a cruise this week but not to any outbreak destinations - I’m in a wait and see mode for now

Vietnam, thank you. A catchy tune that encapsulates the pandemic (does it feel less scary in lower case?) and the importance of washing hands.

ETA: english subtitles. If you're not seeing the subtitles, click on the "CC" button on bottom of video menu

JMO
This is a good video for parents to share with their children to help them learn why its important to wash hands, etc.

I really like it. It took me a bit to figure out how to see the english subtitles which appeared at very bottom in a hard to read shadow box on my laptop but I finally saw them and its really good education for kids. The tune is catchy too which is a bonus.

Homemade tortillas sound great! *off to look for recipes*

I think that it will be much worse. The United States has not taken this situation seriously. As a result, we will be facing a situation similar to Italy in two weeks.

Man. That’s depressing. I think the individual states are going to have to lockdown.
