And just how long are we supposed to be avoid going out? How do you cope with the depression that will result with being unable to physically get out of the house, or just being able to smile at a person? Talking on the phone or skyping is only going to reinforce that outside of that 10 minute interaction with people, you are left alone for the rest of the day, week, month? Really, outside of warning people, this is not helpful to seniors.

MOO

I hear you, but I didn’t get the sense from the article that seniors with health issues shouldn’t go out at all. But we should be well supplied enough so that we can stay home if necessary. Otherwise, don’t take unnecessary chances and keep up on hand washing, etc. If it comes to your community, I expect you won’t mind staying in. :)

Point well taken, Otto. Certainly there are many no- transparent countries. I often wonder about the U.S suppression of facts. I've lived 75 years trusting the U.S. government. A pity at this point in my life, logic and reason tells me we are being deceived by our own administration.

I am with you. So ashamed of my govt, so just livid with those who simply hide behind 'fake news'...it is not political when folks are using it as an excuse for the blatant truth...

I can't stop touching my face. I'm constantly touching, rubbing, itching.
I went to see onward yesterday and was very conscious of the touching of my face, plus armrests in the cinema (the seats are well spaced out so no concern there)

One new presumptive coronavirus case announced, bringing SC total to 7
Five students in Richland County School District One are self-quarantining after they had indirect contact with a person who is being tested for COVID-19, the district announced Monday. The students, who attend Rosewood Elementary School, Hand Middle and Dreher High, are not experiencing symptoms, but their parents are implementing a self-quarantine out of an abundance of caution, said spokeswoman Karen York.

I would like some feedback from anyone who might want to take this angle, why this could never be like Wuhan. Tia.

I think that it will be much worse. The United States has not taken this situation seriously. As a result, we will be facing a situation similar to Italy in two weeks.

And remember..China did not take it seriously at first either.

Trying to quarantine the American public will be much more difficult IMO because #1: many are not taking it seriously and #2: we aren't used to being told what to do by the government. In this case it may be looked at as a removal of our protected freedoms. ( And THAT that could prove to be very dangerous for all of us)

These new policies will be in place through Sunday, April 5th. We will reassess the policies as that date approaches and communicate any changes as early as circumstances permit.

No one in #US wants to use the word “lockdown,” in the manner of what Italy is doing to try to control the spread.
But the specter of isolation, telling people in affected areas not to go out, is hovering in big cities where the infection has taken hold.U.S. Health Experts Say Stricter Measures Are Required to Limit Coronavirus’s Spread

And I don’t see Americans allowing the government to chain their doors, nail them shut or put a huge pile of rocks in front of their doors like the Chinese government did to those who were forced to self-quarantine at home in China.

My hands are all over my face and eyes too. I've tried wearing a latex glove on right hand as reminder. Looks goofy .

I'm furious that our leaders in the US have acted like this is not a big deal and people are overacting. We are not prepared in any way if the worse happens.

Fordham University is doing the same.

Michigan tested three people today for coronavirus -- we're at 39, up from 36.
Three.
If the virus was circulating here -- and it almost certainly is -- how would we possibly know? And why haven't we figured out how to do more testing???
