LA County confirms one more case of coronavirus, bringing the total count to 20. That person has a known case of exposure.

"It's time to start thinking about limiting activities anywhere you have a lot of exposure to the general public," Dr. Barbara Ferrer said.

No visitors allowed at VA nursing homes during coronavirus outbreak

The US Department of Veterans Affairs is adopting a “no visitor” policy during the coronavirus outbreak.

This means "no outside visitors" will be allowed to see residents at any of the 134 VA-run nursing homes. These facilities are home to more than 41,000 veterans across the country.

The only exceptions to the no visitor rule will be in "compassionate cases" — when veterans in hospice units are in their last stages of life. "In those cases, visitors will be limited to a specific Veteran’s room only," the VA said.

The same “no visitor” policy will also be extended to the VA’s 24 major spinal cord injury and disorder centers.

Additionally, VA nursing homes will suspend new admissions and home staffers will be screened for coronavirus daily.

WOW Another huge impact on lots of folks.

Luckily there is an exception being made for some families that have loved ones in end of life situations, but still, this affects a lot of folks who can no longer visit their loved ones if they are at a Veterans Administration (VA) nursing home.

I wonder if they realize they could.

Sure they do. They also feel if they get sick, it will be a mild case.
I can’t imagine sitting in a coliseum for hours with coughing, sneezing, shedding fans, lol.

I don't get it 2-4 weeks at home sounds like a vacay to me , I could find tons of stuff to be done that I keep putting off!!!

The advantage of being a procrastinator is that there is always something one could do tomorrow!

San Francisco says it will provide temporary housing for people experiencing homelessness who can't self-isolate amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The city's ongoing homeless crisis leaves over 5,180 people without shelter on any given night, according to the city's 2019 count.

I want to know how many deaths have been tested. Not sure how to word this. I don't want to minimize the confirmed deaths but could it be higher if those not diagnosed died before being tested?

Absolutely! And IMO - that’s exactly happened in Hubei. China didn’t have nearly enough tests for the living, so I doubt any were used in those early weeks to test any that had passed before being tested.

With the limited scope of testing that had been allowed/authorized by the CDC, it’s quite possible there were CV-19 related deaths that will never be part of the “official” numbers.

The Ivy League did cancel the rest of their basketball tournament season, however. Maybe partially because the Ivy League Schools are closing down themselves. No Ivy Madness this spring for men's or women's teams.

....hum....or are the Ivy League school smart to contain this early on.

These are negative passengers, right?
As far as I can tell.
They will quarantine there.
Originally they said 150 people, so that # went up.

How long after exposure would a test be reliable? I am assuming if it is the next day or two maybe not but does anybody know?

That person has a known case of exposure.

Exposure only? Or tested positive, if you know.
I think the majority of us has been exposed, most not realizing it. “Exposed” is quite broad.
I know I was exposed as I was at the Cynthiana WMT, I’m lucky as I have no symptoms & I’m staying away from the public.

The best way to prevent public awareness of the spread of the virus is to minimize testing. We suspected that was the case in China too.

It can vary, I posted a link yesterday, I’ll see if I can find it again. Also, some tests produce false results.
(Rep. Matt Gaetz just tweeted he tested negative.)
