I knew we were being lied to!

yes and I've been told this by oncology professionals - that the surgical masks are only effective for 20 minutes but in that 20 minutes of wearing one at the cancer centre, it kept me protected from one lady sitting across from me who was hacking and sneezing and coughing into a kleenex (with no mask on putting hundreds of cancer patients at risk!)

There were also passengers from UK onboard the Grand Princess. Arrangements are being made for them to be repatriated. Not sure if they will be quarantined stateside or if they will be flown home immediately.

I think the comment I replied to said that fewer than 300 were heading to quarantine. There were a few thousand on the ship. The Canadians boarded a flight and are headed to quarantine regardless of test results. What's happening to all the other passengers on the ship? It sounds like they are heading home.

If that's the case, it's quite likely just a matter of days until some show symptoms and spread it in their communities.

BREAKING: Cornell announced that all in-person classes will be canceled after spring break and faculty must transition to online classes now due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Students will be asked to leave campus and remain at home for the rest of the semester.
The Cornell Daily Sun on Twitter

It seems just about every college is doing this. At first it was the nationwide ivy’s then here in NJ it’s the small state colleges going online, Rowan as mentioned earlier and my daughter just texted me that Montclair State is also extending spring break and going online the rest of the semester.

I’m quite concerned about the many counties in Colorado reporting cases. Current number of counties reporting positives are “8”. That’s a lot of counties, moo. This tells me it’s potentially quite widespread throughout Colorado, moo.

Tracking every move up or down in the markets is as crazy-making as tracking every new report of a "positive." One thing to consider: even when the markets plummet, there is someone making money/benefiting from it. The way things are going now, I can't think of any benefit that comes from watching the reports of new "positives," especially knowing how many people have not (or can't) be tested, yet still I find myself on the edge of my seat, watching the numbers and looking at the charts. IMO
Personally watching for negatives. That's what will make my heart stop racing. Lower that percentage.

I found this interesting where the article tells where some are going. Im wondering why some are getting to self quarantine at home while others have to stay at the base. Maybe that is only until they get future travel arrangements to their states or something.

"A cruise ship hit by coronavirus is unloading thousands of passengers in California, and many of them will be headed to Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta.

Two sources with direct knowledge of the operation told Channel 2 Cobb County Bureau Chief Chris Jose that 271 passengers will fly from Oakland, California to Marietta.
Among those passengers are 34 Georgians.

The 34 passengers from Georgia will be taken home for self-quarantine.

Other passengers from the East Coast will stay at Dobbins and Clay National Guard Center in Cobb County for 14 days."

More than 250 quarantined cruise ship passengers headed to Dobbins Air Reserve Base tonight

“Also in Pueblo, the police department wants everyone to know there is a "mock Facebook page" that is spreading false information about coronavirus using images that appear to come from the police department. "The Pueblo Police Department is taking steps to deal with the situation, which includes conducting a criminal investigation," the post from Pueblo PD reads. I dunno if I would trust their equipment. Wasn't it revealed that China was reusing dirty masks, ironing and reselling/distributing them?

I would trust the equipment sent by the government. Perhaps there were some desperate people living in rural areas of China who were reusing dirty masks out of desperation, I didn't see the article. Do you have the link?

Re BBM

Are states still having to send their tests to the CDC to get an official "positive"?

I thought they were trying to do away with that to let states test themselves. I cant believe CDC still has to do this.

Holy cow - 31 of 35 remaining Kirkland nursing home patients just tested positive for #COVID19 - with 3 more inconclusive. That’s 89% of this final batch of tests. So crazy. Also crazy is that info is behind a paywall! Coronavirus toll mounts at Seattle-area nursing home Eric Feigl-Ding on Twitter
I am not surprised. First responders already explained that initially, before they knew this was corona virus, they were doing the protocols on these patients that spread this virus everywhere in the home (intubating them, ventilating them and such). My guess is, because of their age and underlying conditions, vast majority of this nursing home residents are doomed.

Aberta cases jumped from 3, to 7, to 14 in a few days.

"Hinshaw said the number of cases in the province is likely to continue to rise over the coming weeks.

The jump of seven cases in the past 24 hours, she said, shows the public health system is likely capturing "a two-week summary" of people who are arriving back in the province after contracting the virus outside the country."

I got an email from Medicare detailing their Coronavirus arrangements (very generous) and recommendations (including avoiding long plane trips). There was the following link included with more info:
