There were only 5 of us in training today, all from different small towns. The training leader asked us to introduce ourselves, say where we are from, and (weirdly) where we may be planning a vacation this year. She said she was going to PA. I was next and said I was going nowhere since I have too many animals to just leave. Surprisingly, everyone else said they were not going anywhere and the last person mentioned the virus. The leader then said her PA trip was postponed from April to later in the year.

I was supposed to go back to KY the last weekend of March, but I canceled last night. My friends then offered to come here. I have a hard time saying no, but it was the easiest no ever last night. I explained that my mom is my #1 priority and the reason I am limiting my movements is to protect her. The fewer people I see, the fewer people my mom “sees” by extension. My friends are just not taking it seriously. I also intended to get a specific kind of rescue puppy from KY this spring but I’m going to have to postpone that as well.

A top Chinese doctor who has been treating seriously ill coronavirus patients in Wuhan believes hypertension may increase your changes of dying from the virus.

Du Bin is the director of Peking Union Medical College Hospital’s intensive care unit and was among a group of Chinese physicians sent to the virus epicentre to treat coronavirus cases two months ago.

In a group of 170 patients which died from COVID-19 in January nearly half had hypertension — a “very high ratio”, Dr Bin told Bloomberg.

“From what I was told by other doctors and the data I can see myself, among all the underlying diseases, hypertension is a key dangerous factor,” Dr Bin said.

A first responder familiar with the situation in the Seattle area tells CNN that seven Kirkland WA Firefighters were swabbed for testing samples that were then sent to the Washington state testing lab — but there was such a bottleneck at the lab, the samples expired.

2/ Those 7 firefighters now must be re-tested and remain in quarantine/isolation longer.
The first responder also says that they are being told by Life Care Center that none of the nearly 200 employees from Life Care have been tested. (65 employees reportedly have symptoms.)

Stock market news live updates: Dow closes 1,160 points higher

Dow Bounces Back, Jumping More Than 1,100 Points After Market's Terrible Day

What a difference a day makes.

After diving more than 2,000 points Monday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average regained some of its footing Tuesday, rising 1,167 points.

The blue chip index, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq rose nearly 5% after the market's worst day since 2008. The price of oil also soared, up 11% after losing 25% the day before.

That is really good news about the stock market going back up today.

A nice average 4.8+% recovery increase across the boards of the main US stock indexes.

From the article referenced above:

“Our advice is to wear a face mask all the way (through the bus ride),” they wrote in the paper, which found that those on-board the bus who did wear a face mask did not become infected.
I knew we were being lied to!
