Diamond Princess Crew To Get Two Months Paid Time Off | Crew Center

Crew Center received a letter that was sent to all crew members onboard Diamond Princess in regards to the quarantine they are currently experiencing. We would like to present the letter as a gold standard of the cruise ship industry as related to acknowledging the hard work of the crew under extraordinary circumstances, encouragement for continuing with the hard work by supporting the crew. As well as considering the human aspect of much needed and well deserved rest even at the midst of Princess Cruises experiencing a financial set back due to canceled cruises and additional costs that are affiliated with the coronavirus quarantine...

Well that's nice to hear for sure! I was thinking to myself before how I sure hoped they were getting more than just average pay while being forced to stay on board and serve passengers potentially carrying a new and scary virus.

Five Hospitalized Travis China Airlift Evacuees Test Negative For Coronavirus

“Five evacuees that were airlifted out of China last week to Travis Air Force Base and hospitalized after displaying possible symptoms of coronavirus do not have the illness, federal health officials said Wednesday.”

I’m having a really hard time accepting these “negative testing” numbers from the US. It’s against reason, I know, and I’m not a conspiracy theorist. But SO many people in the Chinese communities were infected when these planes left Wuhan and Beijing- how is it that SO few (only 13 in entire country!) don’t have the virus? How did they escape infection being around this out-of-control mess in China? I don’t get it.

I can understand how there aren’t a lot of cases in the general public here in US. But that there are minuscule positive results coming from the quarantined planes and compound population.... doesn’t make sense to me. JMO.

it’s incredibly unwise. I’m not sure if anyone here was (or knows someone ) affected by the shortage (and up pricing of levothyroxine/synthroid) 2 years ago?

manufacturing in Puerto Rico issues following hurricanes. (Took me three months to get a partial refill, for a person with no thyroid, it wreaked me)

There’s a Nationwide Shortage of Levothyroxine. This is Why - GoodRx

and here’s where you can check current drug shortages, —- its long...

I remember that shortage. That had to have been awful for you!
We've had shortages of a variety of different drugs over the years at the hospital where I work. I've always wondered why, when they see supply is running low, they don't just produce more? We most likely have a large supply of vital antibiotics stockpiled in the U.S. but they have expiration dates. What if someone (a country) decides to stop sending them to us? I don't think this is a wise practice.

It sounds like the plot of a horror movie

Those photos were from prior to him being diagnosed and during his transfer it appears to me.
The virus is contagious before being diagnosed. So, what about those who were around him?

Assumption - Those that fit the definition of close contact are easily identified and will be followed up post diagnosis now. Before, he was just a "normal" perp. Now, he's egads... one who may have the potential to be patient zero in two prisons!... similar to a plane/cruise ship etc. Worst place for an endemic for sure. I bet the local health care folks are all over that place and those folks are now laid off for 14 days. MOO

Lockdown potential also? Wondering minds want to know

Playing catch up today so apologies if this has already been linked.

Our first group of UK people who were in quarantine at Arrowe Park have all been cleared to leave tomorrow.... 83 in total

the remaining 10, who began quarantine three days later, should be ok on Sunday, if tests are all negative

He did about 8 minutes dancing around that question for sure. I was so lost I couldn't transcribe! The transcription should be out tomorrow am. Yep, never answered although he was giving kudos to chinese for helping the rest of the world, then went to the lady ??? who talked about Bejing and blah blah. Pretty much said that don't worry about it... they are containing. ummmm... ummmm.. ummmm. Ask it again and again please media as we want those numbers!
Hmmmm...not surprised. If they embarrass the China anymore than they already are, they will kick them out.....IMO this is all about saving face.

I would imagine that most of the evacuees from Wuhan were already self-isolating and not going to work or school for 14 days before they got evacuated, therefore they already had a lower chance of arriving infected.

This practice of outsourcing nearly ALL of our vital medications to another country really puts our country at risk, both medically and politically. (not talking about politics as in political party politics, but from a global view.) Honestly, I had no idea the percentage was so high. :(

I was reading about this with the losartan recall recently since I take that medication. It was clear from my research that we are just trusting other countries almost entirely that they are taking proper safety measures. Which they aren't!

But yeah I'd not thought about the idea about the level of control we are giving others. Certainly hadn't thought about the idea of hundreds of millions in China staying home or being quarantined.

I honestly just sort of expect that people in office are actually paying attention to things like this. But almost every disaster seems to make it clear that it's a facade. They aren't doing anything. They are all hedging their bets on everything working smoothly. How stupid is that? I mean sure the average Joe isn't going to know that most of their countries meds aren't even made in that country. But lots of people do. People who do have actual influence.

Is this the same in the UK? We can meet a pandemic better than most countries. But we were just counting on getting all our supplies and meds from elsewhere. Mostly one country. The one country that's now the source a pandemic.....

True. But it means the info they are giving is clearly not reliable. They aren't answering questions. And it's because they are trying to help one country save face. So how much do you trust WHO if they support China in hiding their numbers?

  • #294
Unbelievable as it is, the western world can only stand by and watch to see if other countries have an explosion of cases/deaths.....and of course work on their own for a vaccine.

Imagine the damage that could be done to India, Africa, and South America in 3 to 4 months......

I think they are trying to stay in play so they can get as much info as they can. WHO doesn't control anything.....If they publicly accuse them, no country will play nice.....

One thing that bothers me is the amount of coverage given to that possible case before his test results had even come back.

And he's tested negative for Covid-19.

Huh. One of the medications I take daily is on there. I noticed almost all last year our pharmacy was constantly out of it and we had to go elsewhere. We finally just switched pharmacies.

Bingo!!!

It’s ridiculous that WHO are even playing this game. We deserve the truth here and to hell with China and their half truths.

MOO

You betcha! We all recognize perhaps the statements made in between long diatribes that he does that sound soooooooooooo familiar with defense attorneys speak here iykwim.

They are definitely giving reassurances etc. Heck, even MSM and stock market folks are saying that the infection rate is going down...yeah.. no problem here folks... and these media folks aren't aware that the numbers aren't being submitted? Those at the WHO meetings DO know... your local station may not, but those that are at the meeting and calling in know for sure...but even they are tiptoeing on it.

I will say... I do believe that it is now a concerted effort to #1 contain, and #2, to not let the financial/economic markets collapse.

That would be catastrophic and I think all understand the repercussions of such..and are "letting it slide" as perhaps only folks that read here at WS know that the numbers are no longer being reported? They are handling the health emergency, so they don't wanna get to the place where "what happens next week with folks not going back to work etc and economy/global supply chain". Heck, not having a quarantine in Wuhan/when will it end wasn't even asked.. which I thought would have been. Media is kids gloves right now in the WHO meeting. I did note also he didn't say a meeting tomorrow which he usually does at the end...did anyone else catch that?

Truly, do you read ANYWHERE that talks about such change in definition/not reporting cases in MSM other than the question being asked to WHO, and WHO not giving them ANY chance at a "clip" to use for such. He drones on and never answers for a clip to be used in the media to answer.

Do you know ANYONE in RL other than folks here at WS who know that China stopped reporting any of the provinces that were individually reporting 3 days ago.

Rhetorical question... I will assume the answer for everyone is No to both above questions.

I guess that depends on what you want. Right now this huge communist country has all the data, cases, and based on medstudies info, produce most of our drugs. To develop a vaccine and to keep up with the mutation, we need info. We can wait for a third world country to be decimated or the WHO can suck up a bit and get the info we need.

I'm cheering for the WHO.....
