On Sunday the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported that it is currently monitoring 325 people.

All of the people being monitored have been to mainland China within the past two weeks or were passengers on a cruise ship with a confirmed coronavirus case.

Hundreds in Michigan being monitored due to coronavirus
Other than the cruise ship folks, how have all these people traveled from China in the past two weeks? I thought flights were stopped?

Hmmmm....taking temps at border......they will be next.

Azerbaijani customs authorities have toughened the control at border checkpoints.

The State Customs Committee told Report that the move comes as part of the preventive measures against coronavirus epidemic raging in China, and several other countries, including neighboring Iran.

People arriving from Iran have their body temperature measured with portable thermometers before they enter the administrative building when crossing the border. For this purpose, customs border checkpoints have been equipped with 20 portable thermometers. Ambulances operate 24 hours shifts in the posts.

Michigan was one of the states in the NBC article a week ago that wouldn't provide numbers. Wondering if they didn't have a clue and took a week to figure it out......just thinking.....

IDK, Henry
Why would they want to deflate the numbers?

This type of potential as to denial of symptoms MOO is going to be widespread.
Imagine if you didn't think it was a big deal, but you and your family would loose your house/income etc so you might lie?

SBM

I’m becoming quite concerned about this as well.

Both of these situations are quite different. This article talks about the family calling the state department emergency line and demanding they go and get them. The State department found them commercial flights to Amsterdam.
They apparently contacted the State Department after an initial flight out of the area was turned around mid air and landed back in Pakistan. Requesting assistance from their government was reasonable.

The fact that arrangements were later made to get them to Amsterdam does not end the responsibility of the US government for US citizens. Rather, the US is obligated to ensure that if quarantine is required in Amsterdam, they are adequately cared for.

Likewise, the government might be required to make other travel arrangements if they are refused boarding on commercial planes.

The level of resources expended in providing assistance to a nation's citizens is in proportion to national resources. Fortunately the US is not say, El Salvador. Rather, we have several several hundred military transport planes with fully trained crews available. We can send two to Amsterdam if needed.

MOO by now, anyone with internet knows how to fool to get through a checkpoint. Take an antipyretic prior. They will do what they think is best, and take such to prevent fever and cough coming across the border.

I suggest Florida as an alternative.
As the old saying goes, make it happen, but not in my backyard?

Still looking for reason folks were moved from the bases... not found an answer yet.

Not saying that.....just that they didn't know the number. There were several states in the article that wouldn't provide numbers.

Coronavirus: woman on Diamond Princess cruise ship tested positive after disembarking

Stuff like this proves me point and is alarming that they are so incompetent.

IMO

From the above link:

“The woman in her 60s returned home to the Tochigi prefecture north of Tokyo by train on Wednesday, but she had a fever on Friday and tested positive on Saturday, a local official said.”
