I have not been on this thread much so maybe I missed it....Do you all have a good list of things that would be smart to buy now? I know the CDC has a page but I am looking for what my WS peeps are doing. My husband is far from an alarmist. I am usually the one. But he keeps telling me we need to do something. If he is worried, I am REALLY worried. TIA

FoxNews just confirmed the Northern CA case.

Another source:
New Case of Novel Coronavirus in Northern California: CDC

More information was expected to be released Wednesday night or Thursday morning.
I’m still catching up....thank you for this.

I have a fear that our government will start NOT releasing specific areas where the virus is confirmed. In the interest of not wanting the public to panic...

I’m probably being too cynical....

A WS poster submitted this list linked below to the thread recently. I am also in hurricane country and have started my preps. Also medicines, or OTC plus animal care items/food.

Trump Names Mike Pence to Lead Coronavirus Response

President Trump sought to reassure the country that his government was controlling the spread of the coronavirus after his administration weathered days of criticism.

WASHINGTON — President Trump named Vice President Mike Pence on Wednesday to coordinate the government’s response to the coronavirus, even as he repeatedly played down the danger to the United States of a widespread domestic outbreak.

Mr. Trump’s announcement, at a White House news conference, followed mounting bipartisan criticism that the administration’s response had been sluggish and came after two days of contradictory messages about the virus, which has infected more than 81,000 people globally, killing nearly 3,000...

I have been paying close attention to this virus beginning the end of January and our local news shared a story about our girls prep school who had been in China on winter studies. Half of the group returned before the "china virus" hit the news and quarentine, while the other half of the group were said to be staying in China with their chaperones and no return plans were known . I haven't heard another whisper about this group, local to me. They even wiped the story from the news stations/cache. Silent.

It's JMO that there are many people/groups who are out in the public possibly infectious to others. We need to plan and act as if there may be future events that will impact us. I have a daughter starting her P.A program in April and I worry about her but also all the medical professionals who will be on the front lines of this. That is terrifying to me. Thank God for our Nurses and caregivers who provide services for our loved ones and the sick in our community every day! You are a blessing to us.

Trump says coronavirus risk to Americans 'very low,' puts Pence in charge of gov't response

The president addressed the outbreak at the White House, surrounded by the administration's public health experts.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday attempted to ease growing fears over the spreading coronavirus, saying at the White House that his administration has the situation under control and is "ready to adapt" if the virus spreads.

"Because of all we've done, the risk to the American people remains very low," Trump said. "We're ready to adapt and ready to do whatever we have to as the disease spreads, if it spreads.

"We're very, very ready for this," Trump said, adding that only 15 people had contracted the virus in the U.S. and all were expected to recover...

CDC Confirms New Case of Coronavirus in Solano County | KQED

Solano County.

The patient "reportedly did not have a relevant travel history or exposure to another known patient with COVID-19," the agency said.

CDC said the virus was detected in the "public health system in Northern California," picked up by astute clinicians.

Three waves, 1918. Could someone please help me understand what that means? Could that mean that the coronavirus will come in 3 waves, with people sick for the next 6 months - and three peaks?

Rumor is that China cases are in decline. Should we be watching for a next wave of infected patients? OR, does China have it under control and other countries that are more sloppy about the virus will have second and third waves?
