My neighbor's daughter is going to a party this weekend and a young girl is going to attend the party (20's) and she has just returned from Milan and Venice 3 days ago.

My friend asked me what I thought. Well, I told her first off shouldn't that girl just be a good person and self isolate vs. going to the party?
OMG.....

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – A flight attendant for Korean Air who worked several flights out of Los Angeles International Airport has been diagnosed with coronavirus.

The 24-year-old was diagnosed Tuesday in southern Seoul, according to the Korea Joongang Daily newspaper.

The flight attendant had worked flights between LAX and Seoul–Incheon International Airport on Feb. 19 and 20, according to South Korean media outlets.

The woman also serviced a flight from Tel Aviv, Israel, to Seoul on Feb. 15, South Korea’s Center for Disease Control said. She may have contracted the virus from a South Korean church group who were on a pilgrimage to Israel, the Yonghap News Agency reports.

WHO needs to make a strong statement. Stop the flights. Quarantine. Coordinate.

Politicians would have been in an uproar if harsh measures had been taken in the beginning when it was evident that this would be a pandemic. All borders should have been closed when China lost control of containment. Instead, nothing was done and infected people were transported to parts of the world where there was no virus - in the form of evacuation planes. Too many people with conflicting personal priorities and agendas are making decisions that could result in millions of infected people.
It's so true! These people are more concerned with the loss of money than with the loss of the lives of their own people! We trust them to keep us safe whilst they run our countries Yet they couldn't run a fu*#@*g bath between them! They REALLY need to get a grip on this else there will be no people for them to rule over! A sad, sorry state of affairs. X

Unfortunately.....They only advise.....They don't run the show anywhere.

for me yes. But, I am planning, obtaining what we may need if we have to quarantine. we also have a relatively remote safe location to escape to if civil unrest were to break out. Our area gets an F for crime. So, these thoughts were rumbling around in my brain too unfortunately.

OK remember when you lovely people that I respect an admire with your amazing fact filled posts said we shouldn't panic yet , um, does that still stand? just checking

And that’s what makes this so very worrisome:

It’s very contagious, and ( to me) the length of time it is infectious is very unclear. Personally, I believe it’s more than 14 days.
Different incubation periods in different people. It has shown to be anything from symptoms arising within 24hrs to one man not showing any symptoms for 29 days after initial contact And after testing negative earlier in the month. Same with an Australian couple who tested negative on board Diamond Princess cruise ship and were allowed to leave.. only to test positive once back in Australia. Dangerous times we are living in X

I'm glad y'all are prepping but most people think I'm a nut, especially my work peeps! I'm already worried people wont be able to stock up, or just wont if they are able and then where do you think they will come ....to the people that were smart enough to prep!

UBC research helps fuel potential COVID-19 treatment

If the treatment proves effective at reducing viral load and fever in patients with severe COVID-19 infections, it is likely to be evaluated in a new, much larger, clinical trial.

“In essence, we have a rational targeted therapy we had been working on for years, (and) together, an international team, an amazing team in Europe, China, and Canada, will make a clinical trial happen within weeks,” said Penninger in an email.

The treatment was developed by Vienna-based APEIRON Biologics, co-founded by Penninger, who is also a Canada 150 Chair in Functional Genetics.

“The last weeks we worked like crazy to get this drug to China with all the logistics, ethics (and) the amazing effort of many people,” said Penninger. “Now, the drug landed in China (on Monday).”

The trial is being coordinated by Nanshan Zhong, chair of the National COVID-19 Commission, and Yimin Li, who led the fight against SARS in Guangdong, China, in 2003.

The one-week APN01 trial is one of about 90 drug trials underway in China, testing the efficacy of treatments developed for influenza, HIV, and MERS coronavirus, among others.

As of Feb. 25, the WHO had recorded 80,239 cases globally, with 908 reported in the past 24 hours. The majority of cases remain in China, with 77,780 cases reported and 2,666 deaths. Outside of China, there are 2,459 cases and 34 deaths, with 11 reported in the past 24 hours.

The mortality rate — around 2.2 per cent overall — varies dramatically with age. The death rate for people between 10 and 49 years of age is 0.2 to 0.4 per cent, but ranges up to nearly 15 per cent for patients aged 80 and above.
