I’d also like to add that my daughter works in a small hospital in northern Iowa and is told Not to worry about it. Her and the other doctors think The flu is way more dangerous than this! I disagree. With that being said, I worry about stockpiling supplies when a person has to travel an hour to get simple items like gloves and masks. Should a person travel that hour to a more populated area to get those supplies or just stay home and do without?

I still don’t understand why they haven’t tested ppl on Maui. I live in Iowa part time and don’t have to worry much. But I travel to my 2nd home on Maui a lot. Decided to stay in Iowa until testing is done on Maui. Iowa seems a lot safer right now. Especially in a town of 7,200 people! Fingers crossed

States just started to do testing now that they have received kits. There was a major problem in the past few weeks, as I recall California had 8,400 people being monitored and only 200 test kits at the time.

Wouldn't they take rural patients to the best equipped 'Main' hospitals for treatment with this virus?

I do know (in my area) that the Main hospital owns buildings (besides the main hospital) for just this reason. The other locations would handle the additional quarantined patients etc.

Around here, there is a shortage of hospital beds. ER is overwhelmed with people, entire families in hallways, kids running around touching everything, it is crazy busy every time I go. You have to stay with your relative the entire time to be sure they are getting what they need.

They are.....

"Governor David Ige said Friday that state health officials can now conduct tests for coronavirus in Hawaii, eliminating the untimely process of having to send physical test samples to a U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention laboratory in Atlanta for analysis."

LATEST: State now capable of testing individuals for coronavirus

Good morning all. Pending negative for my family. It was a basic swab test. The Lake Oswego school where the infected patient worked is closed for next week. But since they lived in my city, exposure areas are now high and its another case of getting it from an unknown source. My family has voluntarily decided to self isolate in our home for 2 weeks.
Good....stay safe!!

Now they are! Hawaii has a huge Asian population coming and going all the time. Not to mention people who visit from All over the world every day to holiday. Testing should have started weeks ago imo. I think that’s going to be the biggest problem with all this. Testing should have started way before now.

Re: the Olympics- they may re-think their plan to still hold them as someone on another forum posted a picture of an empty Tokyo airport which normally would be jammed w/ travelers.
They stated their flight to Tokyo from US was only 25% filled.

There are currently approximately 83k cases WORLDWIDE. And predominantly in China. That total number WORLDWIDE is less then the entire population of Sioux City Iowa. And that includes ALL cases. Not just the serious ones. There will never be a need for 20% of the population of the US or of any US city or town to need medical care for corona virus. Not even close. jmo

20% of those who get it need serious, critical or intensive care. Those are the WHO's own stats. They aren't made up. No, 20% of a population won't need that unless the entire population got it. But with all due respect you aren't paying the least bit of attention to real statistics out there if you think this will present no strain to the health care system.

Twelve people now being monitored for the coronavirus in Iowa

Iowa’s website was updated Friday with the new numbers.

Officials say the 12 people are not showing symptoms and are not being tested for the virus at this time. So far, state health officials have completed public health monitoring on 30 people.

Only two people have been tested for COVID-19 and both came back negative.

Glad to hear this. That being said, many people tested negative and appeared asymptomatic, only to test positive a few weeks later.

This virus seems to not be following the "norm" of usual viruses. Which is part of the problem as to why it has spread so quickly.

Netflix binge? Go with "Longmire" and "Outlander".

The real problem is that medical personnel are being exposed to Coronavirus, and then put into 2 week quarantine.

Who is going to be around to treat normal every day procedures and routine medical care?

Just keep that baby in there for a few more weeks.

The full movie is on YouTube for free:
Audio isn't great. (I just started watching, so... )

Interesting observation regarding audio. We kept having to adjust volume throughout our on-demand viewing. At times, dialogue was barely audible, and then sound came on like gangbusters

I’m sure this has been discussed already but in the event people start dying here in the US what are their plans as far as funerals/celebrations of life? Close family won’t get to say their goodbyes? I’m confused as to what other countries are doing.
