Some variations during beginning of outbreak, but this has been consistent.

Perhaps if you share the source where you are saying 15-20% are critical, we could take a look at as MOO it's misunderstanding/misprint. Again, could just be simple semantics again where some thought to print critical = all hospital care folks.. when that included severe?

Well, I'm referring to a medical expert. Surely there are medical experts who are also good communicators. There is no reason the press conference shouldn't be tightly run with a clear, concise message that the public understands, conveyed in a way that invites people to WANT to learn, not tune out or feel condescended to....or bored at the tedious length, shuffle of speakers, and off-topic comments.

I'm staying away from commenting on politicians, but not because I don't have some choice comments to make. My fingers are falling asleep for sitting on them.

I thought it was a pretty good press conference considering the subject matter. And I'm one who doesn't think a press conference was even necessary (and that's putting it mildly) since we normally don't have press conferences about every incidence of flu - or about a thousand other things we all have a much better chance of dying from. I suspect tht the high severe or critical rates are also linked to the Chinese cases, not those elsewhere. That's what I'm seeing googling around, anyway.

Yes, we have heard that is a possibility by scientists from the beginning, and statesmen also... like many here that are optomists, there is a possibility of such. Wouldn't that be great to be like seasonal flu to do such!

Scientists are still not saying one way or another. Some indeed (including WHO, CDC, Dr. S and Dr. C) say they are hopeful indeed it will be like the "normal flu" and decrease in activity with warmer weather, but no evidence, yet. Just an hour ago, I had discussion with another poster about being positive or negative. Both are truths to that person or someone positioning as positive..cup half full!.

Then it was like the common cold.

Yes, it is like the common cold/flu as told over and over by health folks in many ways. Transmission avenues/ways to protect/symptoms similar etc. But most importantly what they are trying to say often when I hear them make the comparison..is how an individual can prevent.

I recall hearing it compared to the flu as to precautions, but I guess you may have read like common cold in that way. Same difference. Wash hands, cover mouth with protection, stay home and don't infect others... yes, as WHO/CDC/Dr. S and Dr. C have all said, it is like the common flu (cold) in this way. I don't hold against them that they are using this OPPORTUNITY to compare to existing viruses/disease to teach folks hygeinge..which MOO I think they are doing.

I agree with every description you gave. As far as this virus, I honestly believe we would get better information from more local news sources. Iow, I would trust something from a professional not tied in any way to the WH regardless of political affiliation.

The only thing coming from either side about the virus is going to be finger pointing and blame and I have no interest in any of that.

Also, would add that the means of transmision of this virus suggest that it WILL decrease in warmer whether for the same reasons the seasonal flu and common colds do.Viruses don't transmit as easily in warmer whether for several reasons. So it's not like the experts are going out on a limb with that "prediction" lol

With a very diverse ethnic population that has wide and easy access to visit family and friends in the countries that currently have the most severe COVID-19 disease infestations?
