I’m so sorry you’re struggling still Orgona. I don’t believe I saw how recently you had covid. I’m considerably older than you and not in shape, so take this FWIW. When I was released from my six day stay in our hospital covid wing early last February, my doctor told me it can take weeks or months to fully recover from pneumonia. I was able to go home without oxygen and I would say I was back to “what passes for normal” (as I like to call it :)) in about a month or six weeks.

Your body has been through a LOT, and if you’re still using oxygen, your body is weak and is still recovering. I’m glad you will have a CT scan and realize you need to rest. Your body has its own timetable. My doctor told me not to get impatient and rush it or I would risk a relapse. So, regardless of how long it takes, respect your body’s wisdom, nurture it and treat it with the patience you’d have for a friend who has been ill and can’t join you in activities yet. Your body will thank you and reward you for the loving kindness you show it. Do keep us posted. Hugs!
Oh @Lilibet! What absolutely beautiful written and sound advice!

I was just looking at tickets on Vivid and Ticketmaster for her show, there’s a red symbol with HealthCheck showing and states a health check is required for the venue. People will ignore it, think it doesn’t apply to them, get pissed that it suppresses their freedom and cause a ruckus at the gate.
I feel for your friend working the show.
I went to see Hamilton a couple of weeks ago in Los Angeles. Same rules. Vaccinations required and also masks worn during the show unless eating. They were strict. I saw one couple turned away.

So, this is interesting. My friend works in Vegas, at the largest shows. Right now, everyone has to show proof of vaccine to enter a venue, or have a rapid test done, on the spot and wait for negative results prior to being admitted.

Gwen Stephani's show is Saturday night, 8,000 people. All have to have vaccine cards checked or negative test done.

I see chaos happening. And BTW, one of the biggest problems, is as we know these days, information changes in a heartbeat. People buy tickets, not realizing the requirements, and workers, like my friend, get the blowback.

People going to shows, sports events, cruises, air flights, etc, surely realize by now that proof of vaccination will be required. How is it even possible to buy tickets without POV?

ETA, I checked Ticket Master and see that it is possible to buy tickets to Gwen Stephani's show without a word about POV. One has to research that requirement independently. Ugh!

Yes @LaborDayRN, @Lilibet wrote that post so eloquently.
I meant to thank for her advice, but then I fell asleep and forgot to answer.
What a beautiful, sound advice that is. Thanks @Lilibet for your compassion and help.

You’re more than welcome @Orgona. Just paying it forward…I received lots of support here when I was sick.

I hope you will keep us posted. And if you need to, feel free to vent or whine here anytime as you recover. :)

I find it completely mystifying that people would choose to go to an event, cause a scene, get turned away and possibly arrested, rather than just printing up a vax card. It must be a psychological fear of certain types of authority. It reminds me of the summer of 2020, during the Floyd protests. The same people who openly flaunted Covid restrictions were the first to scurry home when there was a temporary curfew that only applied to rioting. People really are fascinating.

What A Cheesehead!!!

@StevePopper
Aaron Rodgers just said he presented his research to the NFL. "They thought I was a quack."

@granthpaulsen

Aaron Rodgers just told
@PatMcAfeeShow
that he didn't follow the rules because he is following Martin Luther King's lead by objecting to rules that make no sense.

Aaron Rodgers discusses positive COVID-19 test: 'I'm in the crosshairs of the woke mob right now'

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers tests positive for COVID-19, will not play in Week 9 vs. Chiefs
His research? I wonder what that consisted of.

I didn’t see a lot of restrictions on board other than wearing a mask in certain crowded indoor places such as elevators, in crowded lines for meals (can take if off once seated) and in the retail shops. No mask if you are actively eating or drinking in the casino
(A tropical cocktail sounds wonderfully delicious right now)
No mask required for outside/outdoors which is where most people want to be?
And no more self serve at the buffets, staff will serve you.

I think proof of vaccination and a quick rapid test prior to boarding is going to be standard protocol on cruises for quite a while. :(

I’m wearing more sunscreen on my forehead area since I’m outside a lot, noticed a bit of mask tan!

All indoor entertainment venues require masks. This includes the main Princess Theater (capacity varies by ship, but generally 500-700 guests) and show lounges that are used for daytime activities like Trivia, cooking demonstrations, ballroom dance classes, etc. Shore excursions, whether with Princess or a private carrier, will also have their own health protocols including mask requirements on transport vehicles, masks in indoor cultural venues, shopping venues, etc. I'm sure it's doable but just doesn't sound like a relaxed, stress-free cruise vacation. On our last cruise in January, 2020 just before Covid set in, we left a future cruise deposit that is good until the end of January, 2022. If we book a future cruise (say, winter 2023), we are entitled to certain perks and no payment due until 90 days prior to sailing. We're holding out until the last minute to decide whether or not we'll actually book a voyage or get a refund on the deposit.

Aaron Rodgers on why he's not vaccinated after COVID-19 diagnosis

“So, before my final nail gets put in my cancel culture casket, I'd like to set the record straight on so many of the blatant lies out there. I tested for COVID over 300 times before testing for possible positive and I probably got it from a vaccinated player," Rodgers said.”

There you go...blame one of your teammates. Don’t own up to you being unvaccinated and not wearing a mask, just out doing your thing during a pandemic.

“Rodgers also said he consulted with his friend Joe Rogan and mentioned ivermectin, a medicine that is generally used to treat threadworms, roundworms and other parasites. That medicine is not approved for use in batting COVID-19 by the Food and Drug Administration.”

Ivermectin, guess he and his dog did it together at the vet.

“I have followed every single protocol to a T, except that one that makes absolutely no sense to me," referencing that unvaccinated players must be six feet apart and wearing a mask when speaking to the media.”

Aerosols, duh.

That is what is SO stupid. Just be upfront about it, BEFORE they purchase a ticket. So it is not sprung on folks.

The problem is that the information keeps changing, move the goalposts.

I had my Covid vaccines in March, scanned the card, and promptly forgot about it. Not realizing that card would become a document I needed for travel, work, attending functions. It has become a situation that is particularly triggering for some people, who thought that living in the United States, no one would demand "papers".

Perhaps the restrictions will be relaxed on some of the indoor activities in the future, I missed the mask restrictions on the smaller indoor venues like the lounges.
I can understand how that would not be a stress free vacation, I hope it works out that you can go on a cruise and enjoy yourself!
I think a cooking demonstration would be entertaining in a smaller venue.

Good morning.

Here is the link to Dr. O’s latest podcast:
‎The Osterholm Update: COVID-19: Episode 76: Vaccines in the World of Delta on Apple Podcasts

In this episode, Dr. Osterholm and host Chris Dall discuss the international state of the pandemic, the unpredictability of events to come in the US, recent vaccine data, a COVID query on "mix and match" booster doses, and the approval of the Pfizer vaccine in 5-11 year olds.

Email us your questions: [email protected]

I’m looking forward to this:
Inside the Pandemic: A candid conversation with Dr. Michael Osterholm and Andy Slavitt: Osterholm/Slavitt VE - November 18, 2021 - Formstack

——-

So, in this latest podcast, there’s a lot to unpack. I am going to wait for the transcript to come out Monday on CIDRAP so I can pull some quotes. I hate to paraphrase for fear of misquoting.

I will say this, unfortunately it appears this concept of “waning immunity” is reinforced in latest reports. Dr. O seems concerned about this imo, and says that we may/could start to see some infections, some severe, in those who have been vaccinated who’s immunity wanes after some time. Again, I don’t want to misquote, but IMO I recommend being extra cautious if you’ve reached the 6 months point past second dose if you have not had a booster, or “third dose” regimen.

Also, a couple notes from the podcast, it seems immunity from the vaccine IS significantly stronger than natural infection. He also notes that people can and have been reinfected, some three times or more, iirc. This we knew, as we’ve been seeing this happen since the beginning, hearing about people getting covid again.

Also, as we know it’s been reported that 5 million people globally have died from covid, but as stated previously from Dr. Maria and others, that number is anticipated by many to be MUCH HIGHER, one report cited by Dr. O estimates up to 16 million. :(
