Amid surge in COVID-19 patients, Yale New Haven Hospital forced to limit who gets potentially life-saving treatment

As more patients have developed COVID-19 symptoms over recent months, at least one Connecticut health provider has been forced to limit who receives potentially lifesaving treatment.

“Starting the week after Thanksgiving, the demand for the monoclonal [antibodies] started to far exceed our capacity to deliver it, so we needed to move to a more restrictive criteria,” said LeeAnn Miller, Yale New Haven’s chief pharmacy officer.

“If you are fully vaccinated, you’re not going to be prioritized as high as those who are not fully vaccinated.”
Well, that's really stupid, especially considering "fully vaxxed" with two doses don't have much protection against omicron. Why should anti-vaxxers be getting better treatment?

So the vaccinated need to be extra careful....

Oh, please, please mask up. Recently 15 of my friends got together for dinner at a local restaurant, after all tested negative for COVID. I declined to join in. Three of the women contacted COVID. One had mild symptoms. Two became very sick. The risk is just too great, IMO.

I know-it was a bad mistake--the risk is definitely too great!!!!

Dr. Anthony Fauci tells @GStephanopoulos that it’s “tough to tell” now whether yearly boosters will be expected.

“If it becomes necessary to get yet another boost, then we’ll just have to deal with it when that occurs.Fauci says omicron can evade vaccine protection, but boosters help pic.twitter.com/GJRy81CBgq

Am I the only one that is a little freaked out about receiving a booster every year from now on?

There are valid concerns about the potential damage that can be done to one's heart and other organs. So far, I just say it is better to have the shot and not worry about the effects it may have. But EVERY year? That seems potentially destructive , imo.

I get a flu shot every year @katydid23. :) Personally, I think the damage covid can do far outweighs any damage potentially done by a vaccine, if that’s what you mean in the part I’ve bolded.

How many tetanus injections have you had in your life. From what I remember, I have had about five. I also get a flu vax every year.
Where is the credible information that a Covid vax damages your heart and other organs?

I get a flu shot as well, but I think this covid shot is much stronger. I have not heard about any people getting myocardial inflammation from the flu shots.

Wow! I ordered some home testing kits from CVS a couple of days ago.

So did I via gov.uk. I went on the website a while ago just to see and didn't get the message saying they'd run out so maybe a temporary blip (unless it lets you go through the ordering process first before it tells you!). Might just spur some people on to get vaxxed/boosted.

COVID-19: Rapid lateral flow home testing kits have run out on government's website

"Home COVID testing kits have run out on the government's website, a message on gov.uk says."

I read this on a Daily Mail headline, but then in the article it said that the system had been temporarily overwhelmed, and that they wanted to fulfill existing orders, before accepting more. The article stated that tests could still be picked up at schools, pharmacies, etc.

" - The UK has recorded its first death with the Omicron coronavirus variant, the prime minister said.":(
" - He expressed worry at how fast the variant is spreading, and told people to get booster shots."

"Johnson did not give any details about the person, including whether or not they had been vaccinated."

"Experts are concerned over the high number of mutations that the variant has, which makes these scenarios more likely and thus make the variant more dangerous."

Try walmart (eta I realize not everyone will shop at Walmart)
They’re $14. 2 day shipping. Maybe quicker. Shipping is free with a 35$ minimum
I’m waiting to find out when/ how insurance is going to cover them.

Well I think if you tell an entire country to go and order tests, and to book boosters, it's not surprising that the systems will be overwhelmed, hopefully just temporarily.
