Watching some NFL football on TV- the crowds OMG--it is beyond comprehension
that thousands of people are at the game, screaming with excitement--and the
NFL is clueless in allowing this type of crowd with a surge that we are
experiencing--- we are really in trouble

Then there are all these people in airports traveling for the holidays. We are going to have "fun" times in January. It will be a really bad time if one needs medical care for anything.

A spiderman movie did really well in a box office. Which means a bunch of people were loaded into movie theaters.
We are not even trying to prevent the spread, are we?

It is going to get really ugly and some people who require medical care
will not be able to get it--

That is exactly what I was thinking!!!!!

Another thing, and this is JMO bc it was told me to me by someone on the front lines directly treating Covid patients, observing coworkers, so jmo moo, some health care professionals have resentment and frustration and anger at people who are not vaccinated, understandably, and therefore some unvaccinated may not be prioritized for a hospital bed or get the best care when there are capacity issues, jmo, moo, I know they all take an oath to treat everyone, and equally, and I’m sure many do treat them all equally, but honestly, I’m not sure this is always the case, or will be the case, that unvaccinated people will always be treated with as much care as vaccinated persons.

Another thing, and this is JMO & told me to by people on the front lines, jmo moo, some health care professionals have resentment and frustration and anger at people who are not vaccinated, understandably, and therefore some unvaccinated may not be prioritized for a hospital bed when there are capacity issues. I was told this by someone in the profession who says she has noticed this with her coworkers. Imo some unvaccinated may also not receive the best of care due to this resentment, jmo, moo, I know they all take an oath to treat everyone, but honestly, I’m not sure this is always the case, that unvaccinated people are treated with as much care as vaccinated persons.

I cannot blame these health care workers who put their own lives
on the line-- and these unvaxxed people are overwhelming the hospitals
due to their selfish behavior

Yeah, the harsh reality is some health workers I think feel this way, and this will/does/can trickle down on patient care in some instances, I imagine. And as I said, this was told to me by someone observing coworkers and specific examples were provided to me about this type of prioritization, specifically, unvaccinated persons being “sent home with oxygen” and not being given an ICU bed. Jmo, just what this person said/observed.

This is my fear. For those who are getting cancer treatment (myself included), or are immune compromised, makes me really hesitant to even have treatment in the first place.

Sending you positive and healing thoughts, Midgie, and wishing you all the best with your cancer treatments. ❤️

Yale moves to orange alert level, sees highest single-day COVID case count

The University on Sunday morning shifted its COVID-19 alert level from yellow to orange in response to rising COVID-19 rates in Yale and New Haven and continued uncertainty about the Omicron variant.

The last change in alert level took place on Dec. 1, when the University announced a switch from green to yellow. Yale has not seen an orange alert level – which connotes “moderate” risk – since Nov. 2020.

Thoughts with you Midgie. My mother just finished her last chemo treatment a week ago and is currently scheduled for surgery Jan 11. We were informed late last week that the surgery may be delayed depending on what happens with Covid in the coming weeks. She really needs this surgery so I am hopeful they are able to proceed without delay. :(

I believe your treatment team will do everything possible to keep you healthy and safe. My sister is undergoing cancer treatment and she feels comfortable going to her appointments. Her husband is a physician and he accompanies her to every treatment, test and Dr.’s appointment. He’s very comfortable too.

You need to get your treatment. Many people are coming in and going straight to hospice because their cancer is so advanced. Manufacturers and sellers of later-stage cancer meds are having tremendous sales, by the way.

Tiff23fr - Thank You : ) Congrats to your Mom for completing her last chemo! Wishing all the best for her upcoming surgery too. : )

Thank you to everyone for your good thoughts and wishes.

I’ve been coming here since the beginning of this pandemic (sometimes just reading) for updates. You’re all a great bunch of people : )

Don’t know if I have finally gotten rid of this bug I’ve had but the port is scheduled for tomorrow am. I’m a bit nervous.

No, they do. Their vaccination status is never even mentioned in the charts, specifically to avoid any issues like this. Honestly, once someone is a patient, they are just all treated the same.

It's not the unvaccinated patients that are the problem.

It's their relatives who refuse to obey hospital rules and threaten to sue if they don't get some exotic and unwarranted treatment (for free), experimental drugs (that are not available at hospitals), holistic treatments ( unsupported and for free), and start trying to dictate what the MD's and RN's need to do.

This is a huge nightmare for the really responsible people that are doing their jobs to get people out of the hospital.

How do you reason with someone who believes that vaccines are poison and that the entire pandemic is a conspiracy to begin with?
