Speaking of the Olympics…

N.H.L. Players Will Skip Beijing Olympics

Less than four months after agreeing to send hockey’s top stars to the Games, the N.H.L. and its players’ union have reversed course amid a rise in coronavirus cases.

The antibody treatments from Eli Lilly and Regeneron are turning out to be not effective against Omicron, unfortunately.

From the article (BBM):
Monoclonal antibodies, which are laboratory-made proteins that mimic the immune system’s mechanism for preventing the virus from entering healthy cells, have been used to treat patients at high risk of becoming severely ill from the coronavirus. But only one of the available antibodies — sotrovimab, made by GlaxoSmithKline — appears to be effective against the omicron variant, which accounts for the majority of new Covid cases in the U.S.

Reading that just brings me down--

Reading that just brings me down--

Florida is running out of monoclonal antibody treatments, and the centers set up at the county level are administering their remaining doses by appointment only. In addition, Florida was using Regeneron, which is apparently not effective against omicron.

During the past few months, each county had walk in monoclonal antibody treatment centers, but having enough of the right treatment is now a problem. There are a lot of cases of omicron all over the state, and our governor is strongly opposed to mask and vaccine mandates.

Good interview with Dr. Fauci, some straight up questions asked:

Yeah, Dr. Fauci talks about this above.

Florida is in for a treat. Instead of all the tourists getting sick after leaving FL and getting home, making their covid case some other state's problem, they are going to get sick while still right there in Florida. imo

Out-of-towners leave one-star Yelp reviews for Chicago's Hideout

6b48a4bbc8f7e813c2b135839ce71872

Yelp users with profiles from Texas, Missouri and California are attacking the Hideout with one-star reviews, some aimed at the Chicago bar's COVID policies.

Why it matters:

The one-star reviews appear to be an organized campaign to protest the club's policy of checking vaccination cards and enforcing the state mask mandate.

Ok I’m here to eat crow… My daughter who works at the local hospital was the 4th of 6 night shift workers who got Covid last week. 6 days later and it has started to run through my entire family. Some vaccinated with boosters some not. I myself have been the sickest so far. I’ve had one dose Moderna and I’m 50 yrs old with no preexisting conditions. Had trouble breathing so Dr. ordered antibodies infusion. Luckily the infusions we use at our facility is Sotrovimab ( the one that works for Omicron ) It took 2 hrs & within a few hours I had dramatic results in my breathing. I’m not 100% but I’m a lot better. It’s intended to keep people out of the hospital and so far it’s doing it’s job. I pray this virus rips through the US quickly without too much destruction and death. Maybe then we can be done with this god awful outbreak. Back to eating crow. Please be safe everyone. God bless

Ohio state rep says hospital CEO warns of attacks on healthcare workers by unvaccinated people

Hospital system reporting this says they have an average of 25 cases per day.

They say most hospitals aren't reporting these incidents, but they should reconsider, JMO.

These nutty people behave like spoiled brats.
Let me tell you that it spreads through the vaccinated too!!! I know that because I caught it from someone who is vaccinated. The media needs to stop trying to blame people. It’s only causing division and making matters worse imo

Il Divo star Carlos Marin had been jabbed with Janssen vaccine before dying from Covid | Daily Mail Online

Il Divo star Carlos Marin's lawyer has revealed the singer was jabbed with the Janssen vaccine, commonly known as the Johnson & Johnson jab, before dying from Covid in hospital.

Speaking on Spanish TV, Mr Martin claimed the singer had delayed going to Manchester Royal Hospital on after he fell ill until December 7 and hinted that could have played a part in the fatal outcome

It comes after it was revealed yesterday that Marin battled Covid in secret in December 2019* during Il Divo's Christmas tour of the US, with the virus leaving him struggling to breathe and needing oxygen support.

*2019 appears to be correct. In December 2020 they were supposed to tour the UK:

"Due to Covid-19 the Christmas with Il Divo tour was postponed from December 2020 until December 2021 to ensure the run is as safe and enjoyable as possible."

Their behavior is worse than being spoiled brats-- they should
be prosecuted for assault----- perhaps others would think twice
about attacking hospital workers if they knew there was severe
punishment for this behavior

Attacking healthcare workers should be treated as seriously as attacking flight attendants. Assaulting a crewmember is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and imprisonment up to 20 years. If a dangerous weapon is used, the defendant can be imprisoned for life.

Interesting how they go from attacking healthcare workers to suddenly showing up at the ER begging for help when they get sick. Instead of arresting these people, just identify them and ban them from your hospital network. jmo

I agree completely, but the media is very divisive these days. It's like they thrive on setting one group against another group. Plus, I think they're actually creating the groups.

Realistically, being vaccinated is the right thing to do, and the safest thing, but I don't think the government has been as forthcoming as they might have been in letting people know that the vaccinated can still become infected. If they are, their symptoms are much less severe, thankfully. Or, they may be even asymptomatic, but they're still shedding the virus.

This past summer everyone took off their masks after they got the shots, but surprisingly, the death toll is higher this year than last. It's the unvaccinated who are dying (mostly), but it's the unmasked vaccinated who are unwittingly spreading the virus (JMOO).

The media would do the whole world a favor by not pointing out any more negative stories about the unvaccinated but rather by continuously informing listeners as to where they can get the vaccine, telling them it's still a good idea to wear a mask even if they're vaccinated. But no, they try to fan the flames...

The hospital will not turn away a sick person because of bad behavior IMO--
their behavior is criminal and needs to be dealt with on that level
