Attacking healthcare workers should be treated as seriously as attacking flight attendants. Assaulting a crewmember is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and imprisonment up to 20 years. If a dangerous weapon is used, the defendant can be imprisoned for life.

I agree

Experts recommend mask upgrades due to Omicron

With the Omicron variant on the rise, experts recommend upgrading from a surgical mask to something more protective.

“Omicron is extremely contagious,” said Toronto emergency physician Dr. Kashif Pirzada. “It’s at the level of measles…it was very similar, you walk into a room with someone with measles [and] the whole room gets infected.”

“The best protection you can get is a high quality mask, like an N95 mask.”

Ohio state rep says hospital CEO warns of attacks on healthcare workers by unvaccinated people

Hospital system reporting this says they have an average of 25 cases per day.

They say most hospitals aren't reporting these incidents, but they should reconsider, JMO. If they dont start having them arrested it will continue to get worse.

These nutty people behave like spoiled brats.

They typically don't report those incidents unless someone gets really hurt. But, those incidents are nothing new, people become highly anxious when loved ones are dying--or they fear they are dying. People can go off the deep end at those times. We're just seeing it so much more right now because the hospitals are overwhelmed, and we're naturally seeing it from more unvaccinated people because those are the ones getting sick right now.

When I volunteered on the ambulance, the worse I saw was a young father who flipped and tried to choke his mother-in-law, who had been holding his 9-month daughter on her lap when they had an accident and the baby went through the front windshield. The father didn't care that it was a small nurse he threw to the ground in his rampage to reach his MIL.

Being vaccinated or not vaccinated doesn't really figure in as much as the person just being near-hysterical and unable to control themselves in the moment. Medical personnel are used to it, but that doesn't make it right. Anyone who gets violent should be arrested in my opinion. Let the judge decide whether or not to press charges due to the situation.

China orders a city's entire 13million population to stay indoors due to Covid outbreak | Daily Mail Online

The northern Chinese city of Xi'an on Wednesday ordered all 13 million residents to stay home in a strict lockdown, as concern grows over a fresh outbreak of Covid-19.

All households may only 'send one household member outside once every two days to purchase necessities,' with all others ordered to remain indoors except for emergencies, the city government said in a statement on its official Weibo social media account.

With Beijing preparing to host the 2022 Winter Olympics in February, China is on high alert as it fights local outbreaks in several cities.

Xi'an reported 52 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, bringing the total to 143 since December 9.

From midnight on Thursday, all households may only 'send one household member outside once every two days to purchase necessities,' with all others ordered to remain indoors except for emergencies, the city government said the statement.

I agree completely, but the media is very divisive these days. It's like they thrive on setting one group against another group. Plus, I think they're actually creating the groups.

Realistically, being vaccinated is the right thing to do, and the safest thing, but I don't think the government has been as forthcoming as they might have been in letting people know that the vaccinated can still become infected. If they are, their symptoms are much less severe, thankfully. Or, they may be even asymptomatic, but they're still shedding the virus.

This past summer everyone took off their masks after they got the shots, but surprisingly, the death toll is higher this year than last. It's the unvaccinated who are dying (mostly), but it's the unmasked vaccinated who are unwittingly spreading the virus (JMOO).

The media would do the whole world a favor by not pointing out any more negative stories about the unvaccinated but rather by continuously informing listeners as to where they can get the vaccine, telling them it's still a good idea to wear a mask even if they're vaccinated. But no, they try to fan the flames...
The whole "unmasked vaccinated who are unwittingly spreading the virus" is kind of a myth.

It stemmed from studies showing infected vaccinated people had similar viral loads to infected unvaccinated people. The key word here is "infected". The majority of vaccinated people do not become infected and spread virus anywhere. That is an important distinction the media needs to clear up jmo.

The hospital will not turn away a sick person because of bad behavior IMO--
their behavior is criminal and needs to be dealt with on that level
It's possible to do both.

Amazon still has plenty of N95's, some with same day delivery. And price gouging hasn't started yet.

My recommendation is that everyone should get N95 or KN95 masks now. Once the variant becomes widespread masks might be difficult to obtain.

Thank you--------- blaming the vaccinated for spreading Covid is a myth---
The facts are the facts----unvaccinated peop!e not only spread Covid much more
than vaccinated people, but their failure to get vaccinated allows the virus to continue to infect and mutate. The media has been pretty clear that vaccinated
people can still get the virus, but the vaccine more often than not prevents
serious illness.

A rapid test gives you a result for that moment in time!

It’s not a magic wand.

You could test positive later that day, the next day or Christmas Day when you’re hugging your family members.

On our conference call this morning - we were reminded of that fact because contractors are testing positive on the job site after getting a negative the day or so before on a rapid test.

Hey, let’s all go out to eat tonight! I’ll take a rapid tomorrow!

Let’s just grab a quick beer at the brewery! We’ve got rapids from CVS to take in a day or so before we get on a plane to see grandma!

I haven’t been consistently wearing my N95 or KN95 mask, but it’s ok - I’m getting a rapid test before I fly to see my family!

Sigh

Agreed. In fact many vaccinated people are likely better at wearing masks than anti-vaxxers (a lot of whom are also anti-maskers).

Ok I’m here to eat crow… My daughter who works at the local hospital was the 4th of 6 night shift workers who got Covid last week. 6 days later and it has started to run through my entire family. Some vaccinated with boosters some not. I myself have been the sickest so far. I’ve had one dose Moderna and I’m 50 yrs old with no preexisting conditions. Had trouble breathing so Dr. ordered antibodies infusion. Luckily the infusions we use at our facility is Sotrovimab ( the one that works for Omicron ) It took 2 hrs & within a few hours I had dramatic results in my breathing. I’m not 100% but I’m a lot better. It’s intended to keep people out of the hospital and so far it’s doing it’s job. I pray this virus rips through the US quickly without too much destruction and death. Maybe then we can be done with this god awful outbreak. Back to eating crow. Please be safe everyone. God bless
You are very lucky to get the antibodies working for Omicron, as they are in short supply. Regeneron (the most widely used for covid with great results with previous variants) don't work well against Omicron.
