I just got off the phone with my doctor. She's going to slide me in for a test this morning. She said IF it is covid my level of symptoms is reflective of a viral load that would almost certainly return a positive test. If it is negative, we will test again tomorrow and on Christmas morning to assure it stays negative. She's also going to run a flu test. So, fingers crossed that Christmas is not about to implode.

Yes, that's kind of the plan at the moment. Since I am obviously sick everyone is on notice we may have to postpone our Christmas party to a later date or make a short notice change of location, where I will not attend if my test is positive.

We've already talked about this previously as well. So everyone is prepared to make last minute adjustments. The irony is I'm the only one who is high risk so plans were made more to protect me than anyone else. Yet I'm now the one they need protected from.

It is what it is. I'm off to the doctor's.

Good luck! I'm sending tons of hopes and wishes that you don't have Covid. I (I'm sure all of us) will be anxious to hear back from you with your results. Good job getting in asap.

Dave Fravel and his wife invited several relatives to their Cape Cod home for Christmas to share food, gifts and the togetherness they’ve longed for during the lonely days of the pandemic. They were also looking forward to a holiday sightseeing trip to New York City.

But the coronavirus spoiled all those plans. With cases surging in their state of Massachusetts and the super-infectious omicron variant racing around the world, they feared spreading the virus even before Fravel’s 18-year-old son, Colin, came down with COVID-19.

Rich England has been there before. In the summer, when the delta variant was surging, he said no to a Christmastime vacation with his parents and sister’s family to London and Scotland. But he, his wife and 2-year-old daughter are keeping plans for a four-day trip from their home in Alexandria, Virginia, to Miami on Dec. 31.

“The safest thing to do would be to say ‘OMG, we have to cancel,’” he said. “But there’s a lot of letters in the Greek alphabet — there’s going to be variants after omicron. You can’t just respond to every single variant by shutting down.”...

I was so picky about Christmas dinner being absolutely perfect I didn't trust anyone else to select the meat cut and fresh produce. And I should have turned around and left as soon as I saw that mass of unmasked people.

Wow...when they say Omni is super contagious, they aren't lying. I am hoping for the best for you. I know that I have to be extra diligent when I go out and run errands, I even mask at drive ups- even if it is a drawer at the pharmacy or the bank chutes. I see folks put thier masks on when they are in the lobby of a place- like Harris Teeter- have to remember to always place mine on in the car first.
Speaking of drive thrus- went to the drive thru at MCd's for a coffee and none of the workers were wearing masks. Since when did this start happening? I skipped Harris Teeter by my bank (went to make a deposit at the drive thru) but it was tempting. Instead put a delivery order in for Walmart, haven't done that for many months now....

Its a real shame you dont have the system in place we do, where school kids have to test three times a week regardless of symptoms.

It is a crying shame. I know numerous colleges in my immediate area are testing students and staff like 2-3 times a week. The littles aren’t so lucky

Don't beat yourself up about it. It's very hard when you have been so careful and other people don't seem to care at all.
I try to go to the store when it's quiet, yet I'm still having to dodge coughing, sneezing, un-masked people.

And I'm back in the car. EKG no more abnormal than usual. O2 sats at 97%. Temp 99.1. No x-ray or blood results yet.

I'm headed to the local hospital for mabs. I'm curious what that is going to be like. Has anyone had them? I hope it doesn't take too long. My headache is now severe as are the muscle aches. I just want to go home and lie down. The sore throat is weird. It's not really sore in the traditional sense. I'd describe is as more scratchy or even kind of itchy in a way? No soreness on swallowing. LOTS of sneezing. One right after the other - 8 or 10 in a row.

I'm likely going to be sitting in my car for awhile waiting for the mabs, so if anyone has had them please share!
