Anti-Vax Leader Traveling Country With Guns, Flamethrower, and Fake Badge in Quest to Arrest Dem Governors — The Daily Beast

“Anti-COVID-19 vaccine “Vaccine Police” organization leader Christopher Key, who has proudly claimed he would soon arrest Democrat Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards over vaccine mandates, has set off on a cross-country road trip with a fake badge and high capacity firearms. In a series of Telegram messages posted over the past week, Key has visited countless state offices and harassed officials over vaccines, masks, and mandates. In a phone conversation with The Daily Beast this past week, Key stated that he has been traveling the country “serving” people with packets of information he believes supports his conspiracy theory that COVID-19 vaccines are “bioweapons.” But it’s not only firearms Key has shown off, he also appears to have access to a flamethrower. “All those bioweapons that we have, that are not vaccines, they all need to be lined up, and they need to be exterminated,” Key said in a video posted in mid-December while brandishing a flamethrower. On Saturday night, when asked about the guns and if he intends to bring them along when conducting the planned arrests, Key told The Daily Beast he is “never about violence.” “I will do it [the citizen arrests] lawfully, and the sheriffs will be with me,” he added.”

Well, that’s a disaster waiting to happen. He may be right that in some places the sheriffs will join him. In our area the elected sheriffs have come right out and said they won’t enforce mandates.

Local hospital’s chief medical officer got COVID-19 for Christmas and urges vaccination — News & Observer

“The chief medical officer for Johnston Health and his family got an unwelcome COVID-19 surprise over the Christmas holidays, and he’s using the experience to remind colleagues how tricky the illness can be and how important it is to get vaccinated.

In an email sent to about 2,200 Johnston Health employees, Dr. Rodney McCaskill said that in almost two years of the pandemic, he and his household masked, social-distanced, got vaccinated and boosted to the degree possible, and managed to avoid getting COVID-19.

Then the holidays hit.”

Okay, masked, social distanced, vaccinated, boosted for his household. Sounds like a good plan.

“My son, like many invincible 26-year-olds, drove all night from Florida and arrived last Saturday morning, a week before Christmas,” McCaskill wrote. The son was tired for the first couple of days of his visit, then developed congestion the family attributed to allergies. But his symptoms worsened through the week with the onset of a cough and chills.

“He began to feel better on Christmas Eve but then I developed a dry throat,” McCaskill wrote, adding that he still didn’t suspect COVID. Only after his son returned to Florida and McCaskill developed other mild symptoms, including achy joints, fatigue, congestion and a slight hoarseness in his voice, did he get tested at his wife’s urging.”

What? Why would you take all those measures and let an “invincible” son come to your house? No mention if he social distanced, masked, took a rapid PCR or any test.

Allergies? Really? Didn’t suspect Covid? And this guy is a chief medical doctor?

“In the email and in a phone interview, McCaskill said that over the course of the holiday, his two youngest children also developed minor symptoms, while an older, unvaccinated son had been sick for several days.

“I share this story because I feel that the vaccine and booster shots are most likely the reason why I and my vaccinated family have had minimal symptoms,” McCaskill said. “My son from Florida had been vaccinated in January but did not get the booster shot and he is still coughing and feels short of breath when going up stairs. My other son who chose not to be vaccinated is still sick in bed. I have minimal symptoms and feel great. My vaccinated family is well.”

Huh? A son that only got one shot isn’t boosted. Wonder why this guy decided not to protect his family?
And another son chose not to be vaccinated?

What vaccinated family is he talking about?

They didn’t take all the precautions, he’s contradicting himself every other paragraph.

And he’s surprised he and his family got Covid.

How could his son get vaccinated in January?? I’m in my 60s and wasn’t eligible to receive my vaccine until Feb 2021.

Some essential workers (such as healthcare) got vaccinated before the rest of us were eligible IIRC.

I’m in my 70’s and wasn’t eligible until Feb 15. Tested positive in late January.

what symptoms have you had?
Headache, runny nose, cough, fatigue and as of tonight I lost my smell. Sure is weird! I fried some onion and garlic to make a sauce and could not smell it AT ALL!

Healthcare workers began being vaccinated in mid-December 2020.

It’s possible his vaccinated son received both doses in January, especially if it was Pfizer which only has to be 3 weeks apart.

As for why he “decided not to protect his family”…. His children appear to be young adults. It’s not his decision whether or not they get vaccinated.

I'm sorry your feeling so bad. Are you still feeling like you are improving?

Thank you. But I will say, I've been one heck of a lot more sick than this! It feels like a bad cold and not too much lung based. Maybe a little, but not severe.
And I will say I hope to not get it again!

My unvaccinated brother and his family of 4 all have colds. None of them have been tested and refuse to do so. I don't know if that's because there's a lack of tests here, or what. All 4 had covid last year and were sick for 2 or 3 weeks. I suspect they have it again. None of them will be vaccinated, my brother calls it poison. There are two children who live in the same house who don't have the "cold". Add to that, none of them wear masks. Ever. My brother says they don't prevent anyone from getting covid.

I'll continue to do what I've been doing and have done. Wear a mask whenever I'm out, and I've had 3 shots. But I continue to pray that I don't get it.

Oh dear
Covid is rampant among deer, research shows
Humans have infected wild deer with Covid-19 in a handful of U.S. states and there’s evidence the virus has been spreading between deer, according to recent studies, which outline findings that could complicate the path out of the pandemic.

which is the choice he should have made to keep his family safe

Paywalled /probably not elsewhere lots of papers run globe headline stories
‘It’s just relentless’: Exhausted hospital workers battle another COVID surge - The Boston Globe
more at link
Since March 2020, the weary staff in this Mass. General unit have not gone a single day without treating a critically ill COVID patient. It is difficult for them to see a way out of the throes of this pandemic.

“I don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel,” Mover said. “This could be our new normal, which is not OK. Health care will not be OK.”

When the coronavirus first emerged, health care workers rallied to fight their new, unknown enemy. There was fear, but also a kind of excitement about the immense challenge of solving a new problem, Medoff said. That novelty has turned to drudgery.

Even during periods when broader society moved toward normalcy, COVID never left this ICU. The last time numbers ticked down in the fall, Medoff had a sense of foreboding. Sure enough, within days, more COVID patients arrived.

The best efforts of the ICU staff can’t save everyone. Patients die often — sometimes one a day, sometimes two or three. If their families can’t or don’t want to visit, nurses hold their hands at the end.

Some of them are young. The ones that stay in Mover’s mind are the pregnant women, and their babies, who didn’t make it. And the parents who died and left young children behind.

Mover recently took care of a patient whose children read books to her over the phone. The woman couldn’t hear them; she was sedated.

“You always think: What if that were me, and how would my kids handle that?” Mover said. “If I were to get sick, what would they do?”

The thought of people running out of pet food scares me. I have enough for a month or longer but i am thinking about stocking up with more incase friends and neighbors run out. After seeing the way so many people around me have responded to covid (still booking flights, going to restaurants and bars and holiday gatherings) i’ve come to believe that too many people are either not smart, don’t have common sense or do not educate themselves on these things.
I have a friend who was shocked and offended that a NYE party was cancelled!
YES, that has to be it. Too many people not educated about these things. I don't think most of the people here even watch the news. My friends keep asking when I am going to "end this self isolation" I have going on. They have bets on in two weeks I will be down eating meals again. Ummm....our surge in our area is just getting started. I open the paper and a 50 year old restaurant owner of a super popular place downtown has died of Covid. I guess ignorance is bliss.

I got two big orders in from Walmart this week of things I don't want to run out of- laundry supplies, personal health care items, snacks, drinks. Even though they provide meals here, nothing else is provided except TP! LOL

College athletics have adopted a testing or vaccine proof policy here in Michigan for indoor sporting events.
It will be interesting to see if pro sports follows suit.

University of Michigan to require proof of vaccination, negative COVID test for indoor athletic events

We are headed to the Red Wings game today. Last time we were there there were no vaccine or testing rules and masks were optional. I don’t see that it has changed. On the plus side, the arena was very well ventilated. And the Red wings are not that great so the place is not even half full, lol.

I had both Pfizer vaccines in by the end of January as an essential health care worker.
My booster was in October. I anticipate another booster by spring.
