Question for all my Webslueths Covid-19 smarties. My 21 year old daughter( 2 vaccines and boosted) who is home from college had a friend over on Monday who just informed her he has tested positive for Covid. I have two at home Covid tests that I’ve been saving for “ an emergency “. Because of the difficulties obtaining these tests I don’t want to jump the gun and waste. She doesn’t feel sick … I don’t know.. do I let her take the test.. should she wait? Thought and opinions appreciated. I told her to wait until I get Webslueths opinions. Lol

before you use your "emergency" tests, can she get a test anywhere else- pharmacy? meanwhile, can she isolate in your house and wear a mask? If she has no symptoms, the test might not come back positive, but she might still be "getting an infection," and like the rest of us, you do not have the # of tests to retest every day... IMO... still she might be spreading virus to the rest of you. IMO. does she have any fever? they tell us that omicron comes on quickly, but it has not yet been 5 days since Monday, so not sure that she is "in the clear." IMO.

Antonio Brown and Toilet-Licking Model Broke NFL COVID Rules for Romp: Report — The Daily Beast

“Antonio Brown snuck an infamous OnlyFans model into his hotel room for a tryst the night before a meltdown that saw him disrobe and walk off the field during a game. Ava Louise, 23, met up with the Buccaneers wide receiver, 33, at his hotel room at the Jersey City Westin on Saturday night in an apparent violation of NFL isolation rules, according to the Daily Mail. Louise is perhaps best known for filming herself licking a toilet seat in a proclaimed bid to catch COVID-19 in 2020 and become immune. Louise, who snuck past hotel security, said Brown told her, “‘F--k the NFL… I can’t wait for you to see what I do tomorrow.’” Brown has been embroiled in controversy after ripping off his uniform and walking off the field during the Bucs’ game Sunday against the New York Jets. Late Wednesday he released a statement accusing his coach of pressuring him to play on a broken ankle during the game and then cutting him from the team when he would not. Last month, the NFL suspended him for three games for lying about receiving a coronavirus vaccine.”

My son got the results of his pcr test back and it's positive. He caught what he thinks is omicron on Dec 27th when he used a rapid test. He was infected by his brother-in-law on Christmas Day. My son is fully vaccinated and has had a booster shot. His brother-in-law is fully vaccinated but didn't get boosted. Brother-in-law's pcr came back negative. My son has ordered another pcr and will use it in a few days.

My daughter-in-law, son's wife, still has congestion. She used a rapid test and it was still positive so she's holding off on doing another test until she feels better. She also has MS. I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but thought I'd put it here.

The other person is the 81 year old grandfather who's still testing positive, but is not sick and never seemed to be. He is also fully vaccinated and boosted. The four others didn't catch it and have tested negative. They, too, are fully vaxxed and boosted.

All eight of them were together for Christmas.
Is your daughter in law on immuno suppressants for her MS? That could make vaccine much less effective and illness more severe.

One year ago today I got my first Pfizer COVID vaccine.

Oh no. :( I’m sorry

My niece has passed away from multi-organ failure due to infection with the SARS-CoV 2 virus. She was only 39.

She suffered from poorly controlled diabetes and hypertension, had a very unhealthy BMI, was a smoker and declined to get a booster shot, all of which likely contributed greatly to her severe illness and rapid decline.

Take care of yourselves out there, folks.

Well good gravy what do they think is going to happen on cruise ships. And schools (numbers quadrupled since pre Christmas) And just everywhere else. I can’t even get over these waste water graphs.

Nearly 39,000 Mass. public school students infected with COVID over two-weeks

I just read this story about Royal Caribbean ships having many crew members test positive:

Good to hear. I did not do well with my 2nd Pfizer. I've been randomly considering Moderna.
All three of my shots where Moderna. A sore arm with all three and a little fatigue with the second dose.

@CharlestonGal how terrible, I'm so sorry your niece deteriorated so quickly. I know you had said she had many co-morbidities, but she was much too young.

@Cool Cats please get your booster! You may or may not have some side effects, but none of them are too terrible or last too long. The BEST SIDE EFFECT is it will keep you alive and spare you from very severe hospital-level illness.

I've had three Moderna shots. The worst I had was a day of fever and chills for the second shot. Half of my family has had Pfizer, though, and other than the sore arm, only my niece felt pretty crummy after her booster. Then that passes and now she's much more protected.

IMO everyone should have an annual flu shot. I've been getting them since I was a college girl and we had to get the Swine Flu shot. There was some controversy with that particular shot, but in all my life I've only had the sore arm....and I've never ever had the flu.

I'm so very sorry @CharlestonGal for the loss of your niece. My heart goes out to your family.

@Cool Cats I had three Pfizers and while the third was by no means awful, I definitely felt the worst after that one. I felt fine that day but by the next day was very fatigued and had chills and aches and brain fog. If I had been curled up on the sofa watching TV, it would have been no big deal but was kind of miserable to work through. So my only advice is perhaps book a day off work the following day just in case or make sure you don't have a lot to do. Having said that, most people are pretty much fine after the booster and barely notice any ill effects. Anyway you have nothing to worry about that can't be fixed by putting your feet up with a cup of tea and a painkiller!

I'm getting the feeling they're giving up on trying to eradicate Covid.

I think this is a mistake, but I'm sure they've thought it through. If I'm reading this right, they're going to act as if the virus is endemic--although it's not. It's still pandemic.

No more closures. We're supposed to just live with it. It's the "new normal."

I guess it is what it is. Stay safe out there everyone.

As President Joe Biden spoke on the pandemic from the White House this week, he outlined a series of points that coalesce into a new strategy for America's fight against COVID-19 — learning to live with the coronavirus.

Where his administration previously emphasized curbing transmission and mitigating the spread of the virus, Biden this week pivoted toward a more endemic approach to the virus.

This pretty much reflects what is happening here, in England at any rate.

I don't know what medicine she takes, it was experimental and it's worked for her. Her doctor gave her a note and asked for her to be given a full dose booster shot and that's what she got. It was Moderna. She was very sick with covid.
