In reality, he is the healthiest, most athletic person I know. He does marathons and mountain climbing and expert rock climbing. He is a VERY strict VEGAN. He eats NO processed food of any kind, no meat, no dairy, no eggs, and everything is raw and fresh. He occasionally drinks beer or wine but only on special occasions.

I have never seen him get sick with the flu or a cold or anything. He is in his late 20's. He insists that his immune system is working at a peak level and he does not think that he will have a severe case of covid if he catches it.

SBM. There have been plenty of cases where seemingly fit individuals got severe Covid. Some even died. I remember a case of a Belgian kickboxing champion.

His body is very sensitive and reactive to any type of medicines and always has been. His father and uncles had heart problems and he does not feel safe taking the shots because he feels vulnerable to heart issues down the road.

He feels that he would rather take his chances with the virus using his own immune system which appears to be working well.

OH, AND BOTH HIS PARENTS AND HIS BROTHER AND COUSIN HAVE ALL HAD COVID ALREADY, AS BREAKTHROUGH CASES, AS THEY ARE AL TRIPLE VAXXED.

If he does catch Covid, statistically he has a much better chance of fighting it if he's vaxxed. His relatives likely benefited from that.

The opening ceremony of the Beijing Games is slated for Feb. 4, less than six months after the closing ceremony of the Summer Games in Tokyo.

What COVID-19 protocols will be in place?

The IOC revealed in late September that Beijing organizers planned to prohibit international spectators, including the family and friends of athletes, from attending the Winter Games but that they would sell tickets to Chinese fans who met certain conditions and complied with COVID-19 protocols.

In addition to the ban on foreign spectators Beijing organizers have pledged to create a "closed-loop" system for everyone who travels to China for the Games. This means everyone from athletes and coaches to media and referees/judges will be housed in a strict bubble, separate from the rest of China, and permitted only to move within that bubble.

Organizers have also all but mandated vaccination at the Winter Olympics. While unvaccinated people will technically be allowed to enter the "closed-loop" bubble, Beijing 2022 has indicated that they will have to quarantine in China for 21 days before doing so – a duration of time that would seriously complicate athletes' training regimens, for instance, and likely be a non-starter.

That rule won't be an issue for Team USA, mind you. The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee announced in September that it would require all athletes, coaches and staff to be vaccinated before the Games.

The same issue with Moderna made it less preferable here. More doses of Pfizer were ordered on that account. There are also non-mRNA vaccines available.

I am definitely not an "anti vaxxer". My entire family has been vaxxed, and boosted. But, I also believe that people should be aware of side effects and make informed decisions. And there should be the ability to discuss this issue, without being shut down.

The grapevine has one resident quarantined in her room due to Covid....and indoor dining still continues. bus trips to Walmart and other places....meanwhile the physcial therapist on site wanted to start me on some PT for my knee, but I told her to hold off for a few weeks. I don't feel comfortable going there or having them come to my apt (which was a choice she gave me) . They all wear cloth masks too, which makes it iffy.
Hope I am not boring you all with the news from the Retirement home! Trust me, I am pretty bored myself.

Yes, knowing the side effects - without trying to scare people away from vaccines - can help people make informed decisions about which vaccine they may want to get.

For example:

Due to heart issues some men under age 30 may choose a vaccine that is not an mRNA vaccine such as AstraZeneca.

More young adults than expected have reported heart inflammation following Covid-19 vaccination

A higher-than-usual number of cases of a type of heart inflammation has been reported following Covid-19 vaccination, especially among young men following their second dose of an mRNA vaccine, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Thursday.

Overall, 226 cases of myocarditis or pericarditis after vaccination in people younger than age 30 have been confirmed. Normally, fewer than 100 cases would be expected for this age group.

The CDC will hold a meeting of its Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices on June 18 to further look at the evidence and assess the risk of myocarditis following vaccination.

Comirnaty (Pfizer), Spikevax (Moderna) and cardiac inflammation

Myocarditis and pericarditis

There is a link between mRNA COVID-19 vaccines – such as Comirnaty (Pfizer) and Spikevax (Moderna) – and rare side effects of myocarditis and pericarditis. The association is based on overseas data from countries where these vaccines have been extensively used.

This is particularly seen in males under 30 years old after the second dose of mRNA vaccine.

In the US, reported rates in males were 10 cases per million after first doses, and 67 cases per million after second doses. The TGA is monitoring the risk in the Australian population.

Most myocarditis and pericarditis cases linked to mRNA vaccination have been mild and patients have recovered quickly. Longer-term follow-up of these cases is ongoing.

Myocarditis and pericarditis are not associated with the Vaxzevria (AstraZeneca) vaccine.


Pre-existing cardiac conditions

Most pre-existing cardiac conditions are not regarded as contraindications to vaccination. Some patients should consult a GP or cardiologist about the best timing for vaccination and if any additional precautions are needed.

Moo...the "shunning", ridicule is being delivered by our highest authority. Vaccine is the focus of every WH PC, most days the morning shows/evening news have leaders messaging vaccine, media articles...so in so died unvaccinated. Some of this IMOO, is driven by the lack of test kits, and vaccinations is the usual response when our leaders are ask about the lack of testing question. This divides and angers individuals vaccinated and unvaccinated.

Its time to change the message and focus on treatment and less on the unvaccinated. Time to face the facts, some are not going to be vaccinated and that's that. Move on, I say.

I don't know the official stats, but if I look at my own family in Canada, approximately 100 relatives, I would say that their health issues are about the same as ours here in the U.S.

I could quote a whole lot of name calling bullying behavior just on this site in reference to the unvaccinated. It's quite the acceptable thing. Along with minimizing comments one does not agree with. jmo

I'm confused. Why would she be publicly shunned? How would anyone in the general public know her vaccination status? I pass by people when I'm out. I have no idea if they are vaccinated or not.

In my view, until this pandemic is over, life and the world economy can't return to anything resembling normal. Should leaders of countries just shrug and say, 'oh well 50 million current cases, another 7,000 dead today, not my problem, people should just sort it out themselves. Lets talk about more important stuff, like trade'?

This is the biggest crisis the world has faced since WWII. Vaccination is the only pro-active solution we have. Perhaps people can't see it in their personal bubble, but the world can't function while these waves keep passing through.
