Good, I hope you do. I think John Campbell is a ray of light among all the doom mongers (apart from having an annoying way of pronouncing the word "covid"). He doesn't pretend to be the subject matter expert himself but collates and presents information in a sensible fashion.

As he says in the video it is surprising this hasn't been mentioned on MSM - maybe it doesn't fit the narrative for some of them? MOO

I see the value in this information is to maybe give people who do not have any underlying conditions some perspective. Again MOO.

• in 2020, 16% of deaths were under 64
• in the first quarter of 2021 (january - march) 24% of deaths were under 64
• in the second quarter of 2021 (april-june) 18% of deaths were under 64
• in the third quarter of 2021 (july-september) 45% of deaths were under 64 -( this makes sense because of the delta surge )

It does give perspective, because we know as we age that we are more likely to have underlying pre-existing conditions. So protecting seniors and the elderly made a lot of sense in states that focused on that, of course, not exclusively.

I would like to see the data for children, adolescents, and young adults.

It did also say in John Campbell's video that the average age in these figures was very high - 82.5 years.

So for completeness then, below are the actual figures (BBM), bearing in mind in the UK there have been over 150,000 covid related deaths (and I believe the total was above 130,00 at the end of Q3 2021, I don't have the breakdown just for England and Wales but it will have been the vast majority)

I'm going to wear gloves when I deliver them. I load them into a wagon first so I am not touching them all that much. I agree with you, she said she has so many out with Covid, there is no one else to do the job for her. It's just these residents don't care, they demand their papers.

These V-Flex N95 masks are easier for me to breathe in when I have to wear them for a long time. Some people are calling them "duck" masks, because of their shape. They are designed to have more breathing space inside the mask, and also more space for talking, while still fitting tightly as N95 masks do.

I doubt that you have had to wear one for eight hours a day, with only a half hour break for lunch. Come talk to me about wearing a N-95 mask, having to talk to people all day, and barely getting a drink of water.

I find the mask impossibly suffocating, and talking to people, with an N-95 mask, plus a piece of Plexiglass makes communication challenging, especially if the person is elderly or hard of hearing.

Hope this doesn't come off as harsh. But if you are not working with the public eight hours a day, since the pandemic started, saying you have no issues wearing an N-95 mask is actually offensive to me, if you wear it intermittently. Live in my "mask" world.

I have a severe hearing loss. Even with hearing aids, I default to lip reading. Its practically impossible for my brain to process sound filtered through a mask and plexiglass. Your hearing impaired friends are not okay.

I wear a cloth mask my company provides. I don't think I could do the N95 all day like you do.

Europe could be headed for pandemic 'endgame' - WHO

The Omicron variant has moved the Covid-19 pandemic into a new phase and could bring it to an end in Europe, the World Health Oranization's Europe director has said.

"It's plausible that the region is moving towards a kind of pandemic endgame," Hans Kluge said in an interview, adding that Omicron could infect 60% of Europeans by March.

Once the current surge of Omicron currently sweeping across Europe subsides, "there will be for quite some weeks and months a global immunity, either thanks to the vaccine or because people have immunity due to the infection, and also lowering seasonality."

"So we anticipate that there will be a period of quiet before Covid-19 may come back towards the end of the year, but not necessarily the pandemic coming back," Mr Kluge said.

The Omicron variant, which studies have shown generally leads to less severe infection among vaccinated people than Delta, has raised long-awaited hopes that Covid-19 is starting to shift from a pandemic to a more manageable endemic illness like seasonal flu.

"There is a lot of talk about endemic but endemic means ... that it is possible to predict what's going to happen. This virus has surprised (us) more than once so we have to be very careful," Mr Kluge said.

Apologizing up front for horrible formatting and probably clarity

I started wearing a surgical mask at work September 2019 as flu and other seasonal funk ramped up.

Doubled surgical masks starting in February probably because of info on these threads. Masks were prohibited in most of the building late feb early March iirc ( when covid first went public) I wore mine anyway. I’m a rebel.

I’ve been wearing 95s topped with a surgical mask since sometime in 2020? Thanks
( I’m curious now and will have to look and see if I can find when I started doing so- really regret not journaling all this time)

Work 8-12 hours a day plus short public transport ride. Along with the facial indents I occasionally have a bloody nose bridge. It comes and goes.

I *personally* have no issues with it. I also haven’t caught covid.

I highly recommend the 3m auras. I huge difference from the green ones (idr the brand) that we saw most hc workers using back in the beginning. There are several different n95 options now vs then. Thank goodness.

Work is currently (in some areas) requiring the white industrial -one size for everyone no fit test required- 95s. Upgrading from surgical mask requirement as of a few weeks ago.
To try and reduce spread between employees and spread from employees to “customers”

A month too late imo omicron and the holiday spread was already surging through the building and local community

And they’re not being worn Because they’re so Uncomfortable. So pointless and probably worse than requiring surgical masks.

We are having a bathroom remodeled and they are almost finished. The plumber hooked up most of the plumbing and that will be about it. I anticipated they would finish up tomorrow but the project manager called me just now ( I was shocked she was calling on Sunday but they are good) and said that no less than 10 contractors are out with Covid or suspected Covid and we would be delayed. I feel bad for our poor plumber. He has 5 kids and could hardly afford time off. The soonest anyone could be out would be Wednesday. I totally understand. I told her that I was not sure how any one can keep a business going these days. I suspected back last month when we started this project that this may happen. I wished them all a speedy recovery and will hope they can get back on schedule soon. .

I need the bathroom remodeled as well as the kitchen. I was just shopping for what I needed right before Covid arrived.

As soon as Covid hit I dropped all those plans. There was then, and still is now, absolutely no way I would allow strangers to enter my home, especially when they've been to other customers' homes, and when they have to stay for an extended time.

I do feel for those whose businesses have collapsed. Very much so. But I'm not willing to risk my life or health or those of my family with letting anyone inside. I'm still picking out what I want online, but will not start remodeling til Covid is no longer problematic.

This probably varies regionally but around here tradespeople (plumbing electrical etc) are swamped with work. Scheduled weeks/months in advance if you can even find someone available. And unfortunately (for us not them lol) costs for these services have skyrocketed.

Yes, ditto here. Crazy prices and crazy timescales. Many delays with builders not being able to get materials as quickly as before.

I think we’re all going to find our outgoings will increase a bit - there are definitely fewer deals in the supermarkets and leisure services - harder to get a bargain these days!!

The costs of goods have skyrocketed as well. Some of my raw materials have tripled in cost. I'm not making any more than I did previously, but I can't just eat my cost of goods.

It's been two days since Ireland lifted almost all Covid rules after 20 months of restrictions. So far I can't notice a difference in people's behaviour. Haven't seen a maskless person yet and the bars and restaurants where I live look pretty quiet when I've passed by. I'm quite relieved that most people are showing common sense and still being careful. Those who want to can congregate but I haven't seen any evidence of large numbers of people throwing caution to the wind. I hope it continues like this while Omicron is still causing such high rates of infection. Anyway it doesn't seem to be the free-for-all party we might have feared. But we'll see... It's still early days!
